And to top it off, Warpath had that phallic gun sticking out of his chest (I'm sure they wanted it a little lower, but that wouldn't fly with the censors so they made do). And he would defeat Starscream every time with his gun. I think the implications are obvious.

Warpath was an attack on American heterosexuality. He was clearly meant to be an in-the-closet gay character who overcompensated with his braggadocio and warlike demeanor. It was just insulting.
