meh either way

*awaits hot rod's response*

meh... MEH MEH MEH!!!!  Why is it so hard to just do a hot rod accurate paint scheme on a mold that fricking CRIES OUT FOR IT???

I think Excellion looks a heck of a lot more like G1 Hot Rod than Exillion Red Version does.

ERV has red wheels, no flame deco on hood, red windows, and a head who's color doesn't resemble Hot Rod's one bit.

No, Excellion looks more like G1 Hot Rod because here's a comparison chart, with Hot Rod on left, Excellion on right:

Car/Body part|  Hot Rod  |   Excellion  |  Exillion Red Version

Windows        |    Blue     |      Blue     |              Red

Wheels          |    Black    |     Black     |             Red

Hood             |   Flames   |    Flames   |          No Flames

Spoilers         |   Yellow    |              Blue

Head         |Red and Yellow|Black and Yellow|   Black

Arms        | Red and Orange |    Orange and Black

Legs              |        Orange and Red with Yellow

Now, as far as the spoilers are concerned, I have a solution for that.  I'm going to take the wings from my junker Hot Shot and maybe take the head from my E. Rodimus and turn him into Hot Rod...then again, I'd then be short an e. Rodimus.

I don't know how the process works, but I'm guessing that it's not a coincidence that the torso pieces are the same color as the tires on every version of this figure. I'm guessing that once the molds and everything were set up, they had to pick one color for all of those parts. Takara probably decided that a red torso was more important than black tires, and vice-versa with Hasbro.

:grr :grr meh meh meh This is what it should have been (as i've said 19 times)

Looks close enough for me...I'll buy it.

what did you make the pipes out of?

That would be great if Excellion could fit onto Optimus truck in a supermode.
