I agree with most of what you said, especially choosing a character for the mold rather than than the other way around.  However I think I do need to make a side note to this statement quoted above:

A planned end will mitigate this somewhat but I guarantee this is what will happen should the line die the natural death Hasbro's steering it towards.  It's the same situation you had with all of G1's first season being available on VHS in 1986 but almost nothing afterward (episodes 17 to 98) was released until the late 1990s.  The property was in decline by 1988 (assuming a 2 year lead time) and presumably ROI was fading as well.

 

We absolutely will see the RX-8 and Mustang used again and the probability it's just another popular name (be it Bumblebee, Hotshot, or Botanica) slapped on is almost as certain.  When they're shopping for a name to dump on the 3rd Civic, it's entirely possible that enough people are relatively disinterested (lots of reasons...anything from a tanked economy to "G1 Neo" being a black hole of disposable income), the licensing fees have doubled, or "Cop-Tur" is the last trademark left.

 

Now if I were to ask a question for the sake of keeping this on-topic (because it won't ever be asked until I personally attend such an event):

 

Has there been any consideration to using GoBots as characters for the Alternator line once the well of trademarked/recognizable Autobots and Decepticons runs dry?

Aaron Archer didn't like the RMs, if that gives you any indication. Anyway, I would suspect that the smaller (and different) Japanese market better supports novelty items like HBS and RM figures.

makes a note to miss it altogether because if hasbro took any notice of board on what people want on boards and more. europe wouldn't of missed out on so much over the 20 years. i would rather do kit bashs, repaints etc. . its not like they listen to alot of the ideas.

A. Why is anyone asking for BumbleBee to be a Jetta? if he is allowed by VW at all then there is no excuse not to make him a Beetle

I can answer the questions concerning Dragstrip.... right now.. Hasbro lost the name rights to Hot Rod, Dragstrip and Shockwave even Onslaught... thus, Decepticharge, Shockblast and Hot shot are the respected new names for those characters...

 

My Questions are-

Will the toy world ever see a New mold for a Galvatron instead of a Megatron repaint?

 

When are the fans/collector going to see these long rumored Alternators Jets?

 

Is the Alternators line the neo gen 1 or will it include other famous character from other lines... eg... Nemesis Prime?

 

Will Primus come with the mighty wang of doom! :tftongue  along with all four gold planet keys?
