No. The number of Alts. OR BT's will not surpass G1. Having over 300 Alts. :eek by the end of the line's run seems VERY and HIGHLY unlikely.

Especially if we're not going to see any other types of vehicles in the line.

although alternators are pretty cool( i own a majority of them) i think hasbro is becoming lazy as far as giving us, the fans, some variety. the repaints are killing me-make some new designs...give us some(realistic) jets, tanks, helicopters, dinobots with the same quality as alternators or bineltech. i think that every toy in the alternator line has been repainted except for the acura and scion. and you can bet they will, oh and the dodge srt10(optimus) will be repainted and called scourge, i have no doubt(it still would be cool) but come on hasbro lets not repaint a whole toy line.

IMO it seemed in G1 days that hasbro/takara wasnt worried so much about making a buck but concerned more about making a great toy with great quality and originality. nothing beats G1 and nothing ever will.

you think Hastak wasn't concerned with making $$$ in G1?  How many seeker repaints were there?  How many autobots did Smokescreen share a mold with?  We knew from the beginning that every Alt mold would be remolded and released at least two times to cover the cost of the mold and liscense.

The only way Alternators(As in US Hasbro Sold) Will surpass G1 in number of products, is if they never stop making them for the next 10 years and during these 10 years, they have a Mass shift issue where, they all shrink in size and start coming out 50 figs a year and infact become the main line all together.

I think including BT variants as being part of the Alt line is like counting Galaxy force figs as part of the Cybertron line. They should be kept seperate like they're supposed to be. I bought BT07 after already owning Alt 01 and I also got Red Meister. I dont then turn and complain that they Hasbro is making too many variants. It was my choice to buy those (Not released in the US) Figs. If Hasbro keeps thing up the way they're going we should have 2-3 versions of every mold and hopefully that's it. Buy or don't buy.

I got 2 charts here on my desk at work.

One has allmost all the G1/Diaclone CARS shown, and the other list has allmost all the different versions of Alts/bt's.

I count about 40 G1 variations

and "Master Piece" grade TF's pushing 30.

I suppose to keep this from getting any more blown out of context I should list them...but I won't.

In another 20 years, noobs will be complaining that TF isn't Alt enough.

As Gaiares said, there's just no way. In today's world, no one line could ever surpass the sheer amount that G1 reached. Plus, you have to consider age and price point. Alts are aimed more at older collectors, the original collectors, and are too expensive for younger kids to enjoy.

Hell, no way.  G1 will never be surpassed by any Tf line, nor alts, nor Cybertron, etc. G1 is, was and it will always be the best line in Tf's history. Nothing surpasses G1 in quality and originality.  G1 is the prime example of how a Tf toy has to be done. Alts lack the pizzazz of G1 toys.

I disagree. Cybertron's toys are easily better than the toys from G1.

Most definately!  I mean, the only thing that G-1 has over Cybertron is that they were Die-Cast...and not all of them were at that.  With Cybertron there's better everything from articulation to design.

I do think that Alt/Bt havs a good chance with surpassing the G-1 line.  I was just looking at my Alt Autobots and thought, "I'm going to really run out of space with these guys veeery soon".  Keep it going Has/Tomy-Tak! :thumb

In another 20 years, noobs will be complaining that TF isn't Alt enough.

In another 20 years, anyone who actually remembers G1 from TV will be a fossil.  fans will complain about the new line not being like the live action movie.
