So my hunt for Skids started like as soon as I heard wind of the new alts being released in the USA.  I have been to all 3 Wal-Marts in my area since that day. 

This morning though, was like no other.  It was 5am, dark and cold.  Danielle (girlfriend/fiancee) and I went out in search of Skids today, with intent to find him. 

Our first stop was Cobb County, Chastain Meadows, Georgia Wal-mart.  I had heard from a fellow co-worker earlier that there were many a boxes out on the floors.  I looked around, not unlike a wild animal, searching and hunting,  but to no avail, there were no new alternators to be found.  Though I was a bit sad, I felt as though today, we needed to keep on searching.

Next stop, Danielle's mom's house.  We made a quick pit stop by here to pick up a mystery christmas package that had to be sent here so I would not know what it is.  (I'll let you know after Christmas)

Then we went to Cobb County, Highway 41/Acworth, Georgia Wal-Mart.  I had a distinct feeling that I could be lucky and find the one I had been looking for here.  We ran to the toy section, but dissappointment soon stuck me hard.  Again, I felt empty handed.  Though they were well stocked on every Cybertron figure available, I was not there for the Cybertron, I was there for the Skids. I had to remind myself of that a few times before releasing the clutched-onto Cybertron Sideways I thought I would pick up as a second prize.

We then went to Paulding County, Hiram, Georgia Wal-Mart.  We again rushed to the Toy section immediatly.  They have their Transformers split between two isles (weird).  And I saw what made my heart jump....the new Beast Wars 10th anniv figures, which I saw first and at that point I knew I struck gold!  I fevershly looked around and went through the surrounding aisles and then it happened.  I finally saw him, along with the other 3 bubble packed alts.  Tracks, Prowl, and Sunstreaker.  I picked him up as if I had just won the gold medal in the olympics.  Danielle was just as happy (Im sure she was enjoying going to 4 Wal-Marts in one day [she had hit another one earlier looking for Skids as well]) that we found him.

So all in all, it was well worth it. Well,  good luck to everyone else on their hunt for Skids, and the rest.

Heh, so they made it to the South, eh?  I didn't check when I had the chance today.  I'll bet they were at Wal-Mart here.  I checked last night, but I didn't check today when I drove by there.

 

It's such bad weather, I'm probably just going to wait for BBTS.

So i went to Wallmart number one (Monrovia CA-think Pasadena area) on my lunch break today and no Alts.

 

In fact their Transformer section is pretty much just a few minicon packs and that Blue Huffer dude.

(by the way they did have a totally weird Thudercracker and Sideways Two Pack)

and then stuffed under like a barbie and a Napolean DynoMite doll -

C-GALVETRON!

Wow! ok so i grab him and drive back to my office.

It doesnt take me long (while sitting in my car  in a stuffy parking structure) to realize that bastard is broken.  NONE of his spring loaded gimmicks stay in and in fact the side of his "backpack" that houses his gatling gun in Carmode is actaully completely broke off!! I've had him out of the box for all of 10 minutes mind you. i look for the receipt and cant find it (but it must be in the car somewhere)

 

so, feeling a bit cheated and dejected i go back to work.

Now come about 9p (at my second job) i am actually written up  for "low Morale" - bottom line one of the managers at the resturant i work for screwed up and every one is afraid to point that out.  I flat out said this is F**d up and i am not covering for stupid over there. and thus was told that  A) we are looking into a resolution on this matter and  B) You are creating a hostile work environment. etc, etc.

 

So I get out of work at 10p and go home.

now Im really antsy and all angsty about The day and about Gavetron and and about some personal issues going on. and i am trying to find a way to make his sh** stay together -but the problem is, that the errors are on SPRING loaded parts!!! i am thinking of super glueing it, or breaking the spring or something when i finally decide to return him.  But still i cant find the receipt.  Fine - I will buy another one if i have to and return this one. or something stupid.

 

Well F* that i decide - i need to go for a drive, so i grab a soothing CD and walk down the hill to my car.  In any case I dont have high hopes - i tell myself that i am just going for the drive (now to east LosAngeles) and not to be dissapointed if i dont find anything.  Now my CD changer is under the back seat so i gotta get down there to put the disc in and Wala! there is the receipt!

 

so I hike back up the hill to my apt. and grab Galvie.  and back down to the car.

 

I start it up and go about 3 blocks when i realize that (and its 11:15PM) i left the credit Card back at the apt. and if i dont find anything cool (see the absense of hope noted above) i will need the same card to put the refund on.

 

around the block and over the bridge. double park and into the apt.  CC found - and back on the road.

 

get all the way to the Wall mart and hear the announcment that Wallycron will be closing in 20min.  so i hurry to the Customer Service and then to the toys.

 

This is a WAR ZONE!  However there are also many many boxes being unloaded by the stock team even as i am scrounging around trying to find the TF- section.  nothing promising and then -Wala! Galvie!! Right where he's supposed to be!!  I grab him.

 

At that moment i notice that i am surrounded by "Hasbro" boxes. the Titles and descriptions are not so clear so i start slicing the nearest one with my keys.

 

Did you know there is a new starwars set called "Dicast-Titanium Collection"? i didnt, but now i do and apparently Walmart is hoping it will sell like hotcakes, cause theres lots of those.

Friggin, nothing and people are beginning to look at me strange.  I go down the isle and start tossing aside MATTEL boxes. and then this lady walks up spies my Galvetron and walks off with him!! WTF?! i think about chasing her down but then i see a Hasbro box - SLICE

 

EUREKA! i got me a CASE-FRESH Streaker and Skids!!!!!!!

BING BING BING!

 

But with all the Starwars boxes i am tossing about i think maybe i can walk off with a Vader-TF also! so i walk around the corner and around looking for anything that says HASBRO.

Few notes -

* why does the box say Sunstreaker is a convertable?

 

* Skids is pretty friggin awsome - i let out 2 i repeat 2 "WOW"s while transforming him.  Those moments Transfans live for - when you find that joint or hinge that you never knew was there and it just makes you feel like you are an explorer or a designer of somesort and it doesnt matter what the rest of the day was like - you know that at this moment you have accomplished something important.

 

* He is very porpotionate (much like how Prowls pics always look porky but he is actually really awsome)  but his ankles are really loose. So standing him is a Starscream.

 

And now its 1:30am and i am drunk on Egg  Nogg!

damn, very good story.   oh, if his ankles are loose, i did thise with my 20th prime & prowl.  just take off the ball joint, and do a quick paint of clear nail polish, and wa-la, no more falling over figure.   ya, i like skids too, his pics dont do him justice

i wish stuff like that would happen with cases in the uk. it's impossible to find anything new here, and cybertron hasn't even hit yet

My story's pretty boring.  I went to my walmart not expecting much, since it's one of the rural ones that always seems behind.  The new alts were all there behind a ladder.  I was in and out in 10 minutes.

Well here's my story:

 

I sat in my chair, went to www.ellismodels.com, and then three days later BT Skids and Broadblast came straight to my door ;-)
