How's this for an idea?

Recommended Posts

I was cruising the model car aisle the other day and came across a 1/24 scale model of a jet ski with trailer. Remembering how good my sisters jet ski looked behind my Jeep (think alt Swindle, and you'll get the idea) it took me about 2 seconds to cook up an idea for that baby:

First off, scrap most of the original trailer, since you dont want some useless chunk of plastic that can only be used in one mode. I say, bash up a transformable version from E-towline's sled and use Strongarm's axe as the tounge of the trailer.  And yes,  strongarm's axe can be held by my Alt Outrider, (who is a very mildly re-trimmed swindle at this point), and this gives it somewhere else to be stored.  Instead of on the rollbar, on a clip mount I made from TN Sonarr's waist and his one gold thigh. Yes, it works, and when I get my USB cable, Ill post a pic with my camera phone.

The trailer would raise up on its wheels, and the tracks from E-towlines sled swing out to complete the platform. A pair of slim cannons which would lay flat in trailer mode (becoming those little rails that hold the boat/watercraft in place on this type of trailer) pop up, as well as a hidden radar dish, making for a sweet mobile battle platform/communications base.

My idea for the jetski is for it to transform into either a pteranodon, or a small winged dragon.  The seat would unfold into his head and neck, and the moveable "arm" like on most stand-up jetskis would be his tail. Or the other way around, would just depend on what'd be easier. The hull of course would open up clamshell style, and form part of his wings, the tips them would unfold out of the hull-halves. His feet would be tucked away in there somewhere also.

So what do you guys think? Seems that this, or something similar would be a good way to handle an Alt Soundwave or Blaster also. There have been some cool ideas with SW, but I never liked the idea of Laserbeak not having a "real" altmode, but being just parts of the vehicle. If the cassettes were Jetskis, dirtbikes, quads, snowmobiles, etc, they would still "flow" with SW/Blaster's vehicle mode (likely a jeep, truck, SUV) yet still be real alt modes that were independent  of the main bot.

I hope someone with the skills runs with this idea, because Im not likely to take it on even though it'd kick ass. Viagra Prime? Lobo? Lets see one of you guys step up to the plate on this one! I forget who, but someone made an Alt soundwave from the Jeep mold, so he needs some minibots.

Awesome ideas Dude! Get 'em in here:

That sounds pretty slick, wish I had the skills to try something on that magnitude.

Cant wait to see your Alt. Outrider.

I'm a sucker for Jeeps

As if it was hard to tell.

I noticed--your a man after my own interests! And Ive said it before, but Ill say it again: i LOVE your alt plowking! The head you chose is a bit wierd, but still looks bitchin'. Did you ever write up a bio for this dude?

Actually my alt Outrider is pretty much a stock swindle, except for the strongarm gun and clip, and I repainted the "speedo" all black except for the center "arm thingy" which I painted yellow. I painted the visor in testors model master international orange, then laid on a clearcoat spiked with a little silver for some shine. I axed the spare tire also, cleaning up his look a bit.  But I do have some future plans for him though.

--A chrome blower motor mounted to the plate that flips up for his head, and Id like to find a way to have the scoop pivot down 90 degrees so he'd have a little scanner thingy like G1 Trailbreaker.

--light bar with 4 overhead lites, and pre-runner style tubular bumper like the one on my own Jeep.

--Bigger tires, with rims that dont suck. Id like to find some 5 slot ansen sprint style mags that were the right size and wide enough, but that may be wishful thinking.  Id settle for some 10-holers like those on my own rig. Trouble is, that stupid geewun rehashed front tire mechanism is about tapped out with the tires that he has. Dont know what to do there, since I dont want the bigger tires getting in the way.

--tribal art tatoo-style graphics in black (similar to those repro-labels I saw for red meister) for the hood, his forearms, and shins.

--finally, a minicon peg in place of the spare tire so I can stick armada Highwire back there. I know, I know...it may be frowned upon to "dirty" an alt with a minicon, but this one actually belongs on the vehicle. Besides, if I painted Highwire orange, he'd match my own mountain bike. How sweet would THAT be?

Actually thats a mask on his face, there are actually some "brains" behind that mask.

Nope, I never got around to writing a bio for him. I always thought about it, but never pursued it.

As far as for your Alt:

I think you could make the "blower" work if you used the neck and head from a G1 Laserbeak/Buzzsaw/KO. Just picture how the head slid out of the cassette, and then how it was posed (according to your liking) Follow me?

As far as the rest of the stuff (Bumpers, lights, wheels and tires) I think its Revell that makes a Jeep model. And I do recall seeing a diecast 1:27 custom "rockcrawler" Jeep on Ebay a bunch of times (may still be there?)

Hope this info helps. And don't forget to post some pics when you can

I like this idea! :thumb When I get around to doing up my own Real Life Jeep "Voodoo" maybe something like this would be cool to make. :redface Only thing is, I don't own a motorcycle anymore or even any jet-ski's. :redface So a trailer would be superfluous.

And who said adding a Mini-con to an Alt. is a bad thing? I'm trying to find a way to attach Thunderwing, Gunbarrel and Terradive to Swindle's and/or Voodoo's arms without complicating the transformation process so he/they has/have more weaponry. :D

While I'm here, take a look at this item and the others the seller is auctioning off. I remember Guld saying he was going to try cooking up Rumble and Frenzy as motor bikes so that'd be schway to match these up with existing Alt. figures and therefore onto this idea of your's Outrider74. Too bad they're 1/12" though...

they have these @ my local toy stores for $10-12

Man the robot modes on those bikes suck! Someone here repainted a pair of C-Ransacks as Rumble/Frenzy and I think that C Lugnutz would be an even better choice yet. His head mold is near perfect.

"Voodoo", huh? Sounds interesting, cant wait to see that.

Thats a good idea with the lazerbeak thing, Plow. I might have to look into that or something like it.

You talking about these?

And not to sound stupid, but who is C-Lugnutz? I haven't seen or heard of this one. Any pics I could see?

Yep, those're the ones. Go to the "news and rumors" thread and you'll see the topic about C-Lugnutz and Scrapmetal. Lugnutz is that sweet ass harley looking 'con. And he's roughly Alt size, so would work on a trailer with the Jeep...
