Seriously, religion and politics are two things that should not be discussed - ideally. I just find it odd that you are pissed off about my bashing New Agism and not other mainstream religions such as Buddhism or Christianity. Had I done that latter, I sincerely doubt you'll go off like you did.

GF has less to deal with Eastern idealism than reading Aesop's Fables or watching an episode of He-Man.

 

Funny how nobody ever ponders the significance of when He-Man yells " I HAVE THE POWEEER!!", exactly what type of power is he refering to? Is it physical strengtt? Magical might endowed by the secrets of Castle Greyskull? Is it the power that exists in all of us to do the right thing? Is it just a cool thing to say before he has an excuse to beat up Skeletor and then give a speech along with Man-at-Arms about the moral of the week?

 

 

It's just about morals. The Autobots teach lessons about believing in yourself, being true to yourself, the benefits of teamwork, and just old fashioned niceness. The decepticons are lessons about what happens to people who lie, cheat, and ignore everyone else in their mad rush for glory. You might be on top for a while, but eventually when you do fall, you'll have no-one there to pick you up.

 

I think those morals are fairly universal across all faiths. Judaism, Chrisitianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, basically anything that ends with an "ism". Except Nihilism, we're all nothing there.

 

 

And Satanstorm, a privately crafted TV show can say whatever the Powerglide it wants about whatever the Powerglide it wants. If you don't like it, or don't want your kids to be exposed, then don't watch it. Sometimes I feel like their are people out there rabidly waiting for anything that deviates from their precisely ordered universe of "what's right". It's like they aren't happy unless they can point out what's unforgivably wrong with something that other people enjoy.

Actually, He-Man is actually considered to be a 30 minute commercial for Paganism in some circles. Even back in the 80's parts of the catholic church called for it to be banned on that premise, so believe me when I say it's been pondered and discussed and argued about for a long time.

 

Then again, it was also all said to be a metaphor for homosexuality, one where the sword/power thing takes on a whole new meaning. :roll

For the record, I didn't "threadjacked" your topic - you've started the whole God thing in the first place but you've "MT" it.

 

it's all about the futility of attempting to go against the will of God/the Universe.

 

think about it, no matter how powerful Megatron becomes, Galaxy Convoy always manages to beat him with little effort. also, most of Megatron's troops are either dead or they defected to the autobot side when they realized the futility of trying to defeat Galaxy Convoy. and why is Galaxy Convoy so neigh invincible? because he literally has God on his side, ie, he's carrying out the will of Primus. the message is clear: you should just accept your destiny and do not interfre with the will of the Universe because it is futile to resist.

discussing allegory in a cartoon =/= discussing the philosophical ramifications of christianity.
