Pre Transformers oddities 2 + 3

Recommended Posts

I covered most of Soundwaves oddities in the recent post about his counterfeit being on Ebay.  The differences we did not see in Transformers include a headphone set with mic,  the big difference with CASSETTE MAN etched in his tape deck, and of course that the tapes came with clear cases.

Blaster had a couple surprises of his own.  First off, we got a stripped down version of the original toy, the original had parts that made it an actual working radio were removed.  This was achieved with the help of a AM receiver in the form of a black micro cassette.  This cassette had a small headphone port located on its edge that would plug into a jack hidden inside the tape deck (no other tapes will work with Blaster because of this jack being in the way) Batteries in blaster powered the speakers located in his legs, the dial on his chest tuned the radio, and the on off switch on his leg turned the speakers on and off.

There was also an extra ear phone that could work with the radio cassette, and when not in use was supposed to wrap around the rifle butt and plug into the mysterious hole in his gun.

The final oddity for Blaster, was his 2 pre-TF variations.  Came in Red and Blue, rather strange since they released Twincast in blue later.  Both of these Microman versions have the working radio.  It was thought the red version was a TraSformer variant, however it has surfaced in Microman as well…unclear if the blue version was released in the TraSformer line at all.

Its rather a shame that we did not get Soundblaster as a Microman, but at least that makes the used to be rare G1 Japan exclusive more interesting with its dual cassette capability, black finish with clear red tape deck.  But we can't have it all...unless of course you go out and buy them all...maybe stick a SB in a Cassetteman's box...

I wanted to show all 4 variations of Blaster side by side, so I went out and found Twincast and took my own Pre-TF versions out for a mini photo shoot (a little dark).

I forgot a bunch more details that I did not list specifically.  The battery cover in his right leg, the tape storage door in his back, and the extra ear phone jack located in his left leg.

I also took shots of the earphone in the gun.  The piece plugs into the hole, the plug fits in the hole at the top of the stock.  There is so much cord, it took 3 complete coverings of the stock to wind it all up.

Considering the fact that there is also the jack in the back of his left leg, if he were left handed, and uncoiled the plug, could use that as some kind of Shockwave like powered weapon on a cord.

I also took shots of the inner workings of the tape deck, just to show its impossible for any other tape to fit inside with this plug poking out.

Yes, it was. I've got a blue Trasformer Blaster. Bought it MISB.

It says Trasformer Radio Robot on the box with even on the box a drawn pic of a blue blaster and photo's of the blue version.
