Sorry I am Scottish and I didn't know how to spell his name. :redface

Nothing wrong with saying "Armourhide"  After all, it's simple a minor regional spelling thing, like color/colour.

That might be the case normally, but I was thinking that for names, there'd be only one spelling(especially for trademarked stuff). Sorry though, I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it.

Don't worry about it :thumb . In 2006, when I get money I'm gonna buy Armorhide with other Transformers, of coarse!!

I've not gotten round to importing Armourhide yet, I think Amazon UK has him.  Maybe I should order him, I like the look of his alt mode and his robot mode doesn't look bad.  And I was very happy with GF/Cyb Skids/Clocker/Blurr and Op. Prime, who have pride of place next to BT Silverstreak and G1 Prowl.  Doubt he'll be released in the shops here though.

I couldnt wait to get this bot.  He is the best homage to the G1 minibots I have seen in this line yet.  The, of course, huffer homage, and with the Ironhide head, it just looks great.

Great Articulation, Great look, Great Alt and Bot mode, and great gimmick.

Excellent all around.

He's also one of the best designed toys I've seen from a basic in ages.

I hear expressions like that pretty often, and perhaps some truth, I think too often people just aren't really thinking about other toys. I mean for basics the Energon gestalts produced 6! incredible basics. Almost all of them have ball joints at shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees and many even have waist articulation! They've got great alt modes, interesting transformation, great robot modes, and even transform into arms or legs for a gestalt! I like Armorhide. Armorhide is good, but he doesn't measure up to all that.

Thing is, he has as much articulation as most of the combiner parts, minus:

flimsy joints

badly designed joints that limit what should be full range articulation

crane arm limbs

vehicle kibble getting in the way or hanging off the bot mode (tank treads)

Don't get me wrong, I love the combiner bots, but I don't think that the sacrifices made in their engineering to allow them to combine outweigh what Armorhide brings to the table.

No he does not have as much articulation as the combiner parts. His shoulders are severely and unnecesarily limited compared to the ball joints on the combiner limbs' shoulders. He does not have a waist pivot. His knees are only hinges not ball joints.

Flimsy joints? That's a better fit for Armorhide than the limbs, his knees especially, and his hips are a little loose too.

Crane arm limbs, yep 1 of the 6 combiner limbs has 1 extra long arm. The other 5....?

The tank treads may be hanging off the bot mode of 1 of the 6 designs, but they're far from getting in the way of any poseability, they're mounted on several joints allowing them to be put out of the way for any pose.

Sacrifices for combining/other gimmicks usually happens, but I really don't see what sacrifices the combiner limbs really made, except in the leg/arm modes which are the extra thing that Armorhide doesn't bring to the table.

Armorhide is the ONLY mainline Transformer toy I have been compelled to purchase...since 1987.

'Nuff said.

Because he's so darn cute!

:redface  :pfx

i think armorhide managed to capture something that has been missing from TFs since the 84-86 lines... i can't say what that "something" is, but that's the feeling i get when i pull him off the shelf. :thumb
