Alt Meister-Jazz

Recommended Posts

:tdown

I know he's been out for a little bit (there may have been a prev thread about this, forgive the newbie) but what's up w/Jazz not having the racing stripes & stickers!  WTF!  Could Takara or Hasbro not come up w/a deal w/Mazda to have him come that way?  What about the spoiler.  That thing is tiny.  I was dying to see him come out as a Binaltech/Alternator but I think that they could have done better.  He looks soo plain!!!!  I remember when I originally special ordered him from a cookie crisp box (anyone remember that?).  When he came, he was soo awesome w/all the stripes & stickers.  This one doesn't give me the same effect.  I know you can buy the stickers for him but it's just not the same!  Anyone agree?  Comments?  Feedback? :tdown

...Alt Meister doesn't have a spoiler...

HasTak, occasionally, is only allowed to use certain designs under conditions issued by the manufacturer that owns it. Zoom-zoom is an example of this. Mazda wanted a red RX-8, so they were given a red RX-8 and HasTak negotiated the white Meister on the side. Ditto with yellow Tracks, and this is why neither S2000 has a gun barrel in the U.S.

Meister is probably all-white to save on costs. Collector-oriented BTs retail for well over $45USD, whereas Alts are made for a younger crowd that likes to play with their cars that they buy with their monthly allowance. So, Alts need to be tougher than their overseas counterparts. If by some chance you manage to scratch the paintjob on an Alt while playing with it, well, it'll be pretty visible if they have huge stripes like Jazz does. Yeah, Smokescreen has some pretty big painted decals, but there are so many of them that minor scratches don't show up as much (especially with all the text flying around, so much empty space filled with blue plastic). Meister, on the other hand, is entirely white plastic. You scratch dark paint off light plastic, you're going to see it. If Meister had a base coat of white paint and gloss finish and a price hike of, say, $5, then stripes would be feasible, but Hasbro's trying to keep all the Alts at the same price, so things have to give.

Granted, Prowl is black plastic with white paint (Check out Alternators VTEC in Custom Repaints and Kitbashes). I'm sure Hasbro cut some costs to make that happen.

Had a feeling that was a reason.  Darn!  Smokescreen was awesome & though, yes, he had alot decals but I believe that Jazz had enough to get by.  Tak version Had decals?

You know, on one hand I really want to be nice to noobs...

but on the other...........

I ain't that new but I get the point.  I already did my research.  stickers from reprolabels will do for now.  I was just a thought it would have been somthing to discuss & I would have liked some thoughts on it.  Thanks anyway.

In today's legal landscape you'd have to seek Martini Racing's permission to use their livery. And (to me) it's stupid because they don't sponsor the RX-8.

Alternators is heavily influenced by G1. But isn't G1. Unless you subscribe to the wacked out Binaltech story.

But if ye must: http://reprolabels.com/alt_labels.html

Actually I just got my Alt Meister about a week ago and though he's not the best he is pretty cool, and like him as it. White plasticky goodness with just the right amount of detailing and paint aps. Reguarding the decals, and reprolables, top props for the fine people providing them but personally I hate them. I like my alt modes 100% plain. Adds so much more to the robots in disguise feel, and the toy itself doesn't feel needlessly cluttered up. I actually passed on Smokescreen and got Silverstreak for that very reason. Don't even get me started on that hood flame decal for Tracks.

There are fortunately exceptions if and only if it fits the mold. The only two I can think of are Deadend, and the upcoming sunstreaker which I didn't expect to be as hyped about as I am. Lastly there are in my opinion the unforgivable paint/decaling schemes Hasbro decides on. I absolutely hate it when a near perfect mold is presented, and rather than keeping it simple as has been the trend Alts like Decepticharge, Skids, and to lesser extent Prowl happen. Fine for the people who like having there autobots pimped out but I'm doing to thinner strip each and everyone of them.  :mwahaha

we're getting stuck with the flaming Scion insignia on Skids :(

I actually like the stickers if it somewhat represents a real car. I LOVE the LeMans stickers for Tracks. They add the gaudiness of the flames only they are a real car. I ended up with Jazz's stickers just because the car felt so plain.

i put the reprolabel jazz sticker kit on my meister, and it looks so much better. obviously it'd be way better if they were painted on, but this'll have to do.

once you get the stickers on, it suddenly becomes jazz. also take some diazepan, as you need a steady hand to put them on ;)
