ever wonder why swindle, a minor part in a combiner team, was so prominently featured in the cartoon and comic over his bruticus counterparts?  Or why he was such a main decepticon?

I think it was because he had more to his personality than most other 'cons.  He could also deal with humans, which I always thought was cool on the cartoon.  When most Deceps wanted to extinguish humans, he would work with them (but of course for his own ends).

Plus, for some reason, shifty characters are very popular in cartoons.  He was able to pull some of his resources, even in the Binaltech storyline (there were Deceps more damaged that he was, yet he was one of the first to be put through the BT process).

He's one of my favorite Transformers.

Isn't that kinda of a catch-22?  He was featured for his personality, but he had more personality because he was featured.

Maybe he was easier to animate in the cartoon?  Or the writers wanted some 'underdog' type who shouldn't have had much power but did anyway?

Onslaught wasn't featured as much because if he was such a good planner, the Cons would've won a bit more, which was an 80s no-no.

Brawl was a hick Dinobotesque character...been there..

Vortex... well we never really got into vortex.

Blastoff was snooty, and should've been shown more...

They didn't have the shifty, lets make a deal character really pegged yet, so Swindle filled the role nicely.

I think he had the stand out personality of the group and the writers rolled with it.

I have a question, Notice how the Arielbots all had definate personalities that you could remember?

they did?

i dont remember Any Arielbots personalities - except Silverbolt being unsure of himself as commander and being afraid of heights....

:roll

well maybe not all of them but Slingshot was impatient and didn't care for humans or the Autobots for that matter

The Aerialbots were the good guys. They always had more personality than bad guys.

I want to know why the others WEREN'T featured more. Swindle was a cool character, so it doesn't surprise me that he was featured. I just wish they had done more with Brawl or even Vortex.

Yougot a generally good feel that Silverbolt was optimistic but unsure of himself; Slingshot was a hothead but once he was friends with someone he was a cutup; Skydive was sincere and helpful and thoughtful; and AirRaid was 'I wanna shoot it up NOW'. Fireflight didn't get a lot of detail, though.

The ep where they face the combaticons and that giant robo-griffin in the desert was a good one for seeing the personalities of all but Fireflight who had- according to character- wandered off and showed up late.
