TF chop shops

how easy do you think it is for a TF to replace something like his/her arm?  Or eye?  do you think they had stores on cybertron like in the movie Robots?

well possibly you could say thats had shock wave got his gun

Most definitely.  I can only imagine that Shocky got the face we know him with as a result of some disaster that happened that entirely messed up his face, and somehow his nueral net had to transferred to the bizarre head we know and love.  Thus the known Shockwave was born.  Almost Darth Vaderish in a way...creepy.

Except he's a robot and his face is made out of metal. It could have been any shape he wanted it to be.

Shockwave exemplified the ultimate in functionality. Think about it - If you are a mechanical being, you don't really need taste if you consume energon, and you don't really need to enunciate or talk with your mouth when you have a voice synthesizer, so no mouth. If you have tracking drones at your disposal and Ravage, what need do you have for a nose? Eyes? You really need one, as many pirates can testify. So what you are left with is a head with an eye and maybe a set of ears - and if your face is ever blasted in battle, it's the eye that you have to worry about, that's all.

I always thought the humanoid robot thing was a bit weird -- as a concept to be taken seriously, that is. Sure you can always pull the Quintesson retcon explanation, but once they were kicked out, there would have been no reason for the Cybertronians to remain in those inefficient humanoid forms. You'd think that they would have "self-evolved" into more functional bodies.... ones that wouldn't require transformation BTW.

Pirates have no depth perception, unlike ninjas.

I think replacement parts are easy to get, or manufacture.  Wheeljack made autobot x with some spare parts.

Actually, Sparkplug, that undereducated semi trailer trash, built Autobot X and called it his "own Frankenstein experiment."

Freak.
