you know, i just might get these versions instead of Hasbro's versions because Hasbro's versions having cyber key gimmicks might be a real turn-off. i guess now we know who's the real driving force behind the tf toys having ridiculous gimmicks :roll

i don't know, from what i here the hasbro version are PWNage

picture of supposedly PWNlicious toy <<<<<<<<<<< knowing what it's really like

i don't know, from what i here the hasbro version are PWNage

but designing BW Anniversery toys so that they can use force chips would be like remolding MP Prime so that he could use minicons: if you're not going to stay true to the source material then what's the point of marketing the toy as an anniversery toy?

Because they're probably testing the water to see how well the first two waves are received by fans and the sales numbers of them.  If the line doesn't do well, they'll release them in Cybertron, hence the Fore Chip gimmick addition.

I don't know if I buy that logic. Hasbro's already redesigned their packaging to make everything look the same. Would it really make that big of a difference sales-wise to change the logo on the box?

If the BW line doesn't sell well and retailers decide not continue to carry it, and Hasbro wants to get these new molds out, putting them in Cybertron would be the way to go.  Basically, it probably has more to do with retailers than anything.  If a certain product won't sell, why continue to carry it?

It's just a safety thing.  I understand the dislike over these two having that gimmick.  But if we can get these figures in either a BW Anni line or in Cybertron, I'm fine with it......especially since people keep saying the new ones by Hasbro are godlike.

Of course, my opinion on this may change at a later date.

My point is, if it's not selling with one name on the box, it's not gonna do any better with another name on the box, especially when both boxes are already near-identical anyway.

EM's point is that the retailers order by product line, if the BW Anniversary figures don't sell well as a line, any new molds designed but not yet released can still be sold as part of the Cybertron line - instead of simply being "lost."

What I'm saying here is that Hasbro will release these figures in Cybertron, IF, IF BW Annni line fails, in order to cover costs no matter what.  If for whatever reason the first wave or two of BW don't sell, they can release these two figures in Cybertron and they will 'fit in' with the gimmick of the line.

Is that too hard for people to understand?

EDIT

Oh, I forgot, we're dealing with fanboys here, of course they can't understand. :roll

This makes sense to me.
