Hey guys here`s a question what if I put a big wide yellow strip right down the roof from front to back?

Dude, I like him........though some more gray on him would be good...G1 Blaster was red, yellow, and lots of gray.

 

Superquad and I talk on Yahoo a lot, and Ive often mentioned I think the Alt/BT line should more closely follow the G1 roots...he disagrees

Thats ok...thats why we have cool a$$ kitbashers like Lobo, Viagra Prime, Superquad and Rodimus VTS. All you guys rock, and I appreciate your efforts, no matter how people view them. Even the customs I've seen that i dont like, I still respect, for the simple reason I personally could never do it...even if I had a modicum of skill. I have no patience, and that alone would just make for a big pile of junked plastic and metal on the floor of my kitchen.

 

Keep up the good work dude. By the way, your Rodimus VTS fig is sweet...I think it does him justice.

Well, it's not that I don't want the Alt/BT line to have deep roots in G1 or not, the major issue with me is how deep those roots need to be.  I think any of you guys can see from my customs I have a great love for [most] things G1. 

 

However, I just do not want exact duplicates of G1 of any kind.  I like having the nod, but I also like having new things too.  I'll even be so bold as to go on the record saying that I think the MP-01 Convoy/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime is the greatest toy ever - period.  That being said, had Hasbro/Takara not have released him, I'd be almost 100% cool with Prime as a Dodge Ram (sorry guys, but I'm a Ford man and "prime" means best. :tflaugh  :tfevil ).  Now given the MP/20th Prime, I have been wanting a Megs of the same nature for so long now. 

 

I think you guys will see more of my viewpoints when I get my series of seeker Alts finished (for those of you who do not know, I have been making all 6 of the original G1 seeker characters as Imprezas with also the addition of Sunstorm).  My customs of these guys are not an inch by inch replication of their G1 counterparts, but I did want to capture their personas in their paint schemes without sacrificing the intergrity of having cool Imprezas too.  I have spent as much time (if not more) trying to make cool Imprezas as I have making cool paint schemes that capture the characters. 

 

I say all of that not necessarily to plug my own customs (click my sig to access my site and you'll eventually find my customs work and their are my own other threads for my work), but to also attempt to convey the design viewpoints of a Takara/Hasbro TF designer (hehe, I don't know if you guys do this or not, but when I design my customs I pretend [or try to think like] I'm working for the Binaltech design team [at least on some level]).  From what I have learned about graphic design in general and also what I have learned about in terms of the actual Binaltech/Alternator design process, this is how the designers approach a toy line like this.

 

BTW Smackrazor, thanks for the kind words to me, Rodimus, VP, Lobo, and the other kitbasheers.  Your appraisal of my [our] works are much appreciated.  I just like making TF Alts for myself, if for nothing else, to give the Decepticons a fighting chance! :tfgrin  I started out just wanting a police cruiser so I made Hot Pursuit.  I just have a lot of fun an enjoy the end results. 

 

I also want to tip my hat to Rodimus for making a very ambitious custom of [seemingly] his favorite TF.  If nothing else, I would like to see clearer pics of Rodimus simply because I think that Rodimus' custom hasn't been given the justice that it deserves should we were able to view it in real person.  Don't feel bad, man because I am pushing a 1 megapixel digicam the most that I know how simply because I can't break down and get another one.  I just try to make the best with what I have. 

 

While I'm at it (and since those two guys were specifially mentioned), I'd like to personally say 'thanks' to both Lobo and VP.  You two guys have become my friends and I really appreciate both of you guys.  Each of you have just been so nice to me and just an absolute pleasure to talk to about customs and TFs.  Both of you, in my mind, have made some of the best custom anything I've ever seen.  You guys are just inspiring and personally informative.  Thanks for being my friends :tftongue

That's a real nice job, but I still don't look at it and see Blaster.

I think I'm going to end up just modding the head into Crosscut.
