I've always been curious:

 

Are G1 Megatron and Galvatron two different people? Did Galvatron consider himself as an upgraded Megatron, or did he feel that he was as distinct from Megatron as Hornet is from X-Bob? (I've been keeping up on the Matrix thread they've been contributing to.) I know that they had the same spark (or did they???) so I guess this could be a case similar to Rhinox and Tankor.

Probably considered himself one in the same (before crazy isolation in lava bath).  Case in point, he went back for Starscream and kicked ass.  After the movie he became a retard.

I think Galvatron would consider himself as megatron to tghe same extent that someone who got brain-damage in the midle of lifwe you consider themselves to be the same as thier old selves.

I think he considered himself a new guy.

"UltraMagnus! I, Galvatron, shall crush you like Megatron crushed Prime!"

it's my belief that Unicron simply scrapped the wounded cons for spare parts and raw materials with which to make his heralds but Galvatron probably had Megatron's memories and that probably affected his personality.

Tazbot that.  Megatron seemed to have a soft spot for starscream whereas Galvatron just didn't give a hoot about him.

I agree with Hornet, Galvatron knew he was Megatron, but the other Cons had no clue who they were before.

why is that?

its not like any of the cons exhibited specific character triats more or less before or after the conversion.

 

So skywarp became Cyclonus - well he never had a peronality other than Megatron's Starscream and now he's Galvetron's Starscream.  Maybe we shoulda had an episode like "Ultramagnus's Birthday" that explained the inner conflict of Skywarp, Thundercrakcer and Bombshell....

I always thought they were the same...unicron himself said he would give megatron a new body...didnt say new brain, and why would u agree to a reformatting over being eaten if the outcome would be the same? scrapped? I also think that galvatron slagged starscream because he finally just had enough of him and had his replacment  by his side...cyclonus. I mean he did through him out of astrotrain to his seeming doom. I would have slagged him too! Even in the 1st episode of more then meets the eye, astrotrain says, "well they were the same Guy." So I really do think that it was just an upgraded repaired body and any memory loss came after the lava baths.

I believe that the seeker's and insecticons were just overhauled and had nothing to do with the pesonalities. When they were reformatted, I don't know which Seeker became Scourge but every time I watch the movie Bombshell is reformatted into Cyclonus. I know it seems Backward that Bombshell, a Psychological warfare expert, wasn't turned into Scourge and Skywarp into Cyclonus but my eyes aren't crazy.

 

Hell the show and movies didn't always make sense. Like when there was two Frenzys on screen.  Then when the cons attack Junk, there was an insecticon there.

Any one pay attention to the fact that Unicron chomped all 3 remaining Conehead seekers? What was the deal with Jazz not being Jazz after the Movie?

 

I don't know, it just sucks altogether that the G1 writers didn't set anything in concrete and every thing contridicted itself. I vote no more G1 explanation threads! G1 continuity sucked. It was and is fun to watch, but it sucks to think about.
