IDW transformers

Recommended Posts

Could IDW's incarnation of the Gen 1 Transformers be considered Gen 1.5?

Hear me out:

Transformers cartoon is Gen 1

Marvel US comic is 1.2

Marvel Uk comic is 1.3

Dreamwave comic is 1.4

so by this logic IDW comic would be Generation 1.5

Or am i completely wrong?

Where's Gen 1.1??

Where's Gen 1.1??

Is that not covered by the cartoon?

y'know, what with Jap/US continuities.

I always jokingly referred to G1 Season Three as G1.5.

The Marvel US comic predates the cartoon. Really I'd call all of those except IDW's G1. IDW's is more like Ultimate Transformers.

I agree.  this series is (roughly) the same characters starting over completely.  They've got the same name, abilities, and personalities as their G1 counterparts, but this isn't G1.

Don't see why not. Numbering went straight from 1 to 1.2 so i had to ask  :tfgrin

Basically, there is no ONE G1 story. The cartoon and the original comic already were in conflict over certain issues. DW's storyline was also different and IDW is different again. It's all the same characters and the same outline, just different universes.

Oh, and by the way, just because in the USA most remember the cartoon, doesn't mean that that's the one continuity. I, for one, care very little for the cartoon. The original comic lasted much longer and spanned a much longer periode than the cartoon (and I'm not even counting the marvel UK run). Also, as Don Cassetti pointed out, the comic started earlier than the cartoon. So why should the cartoon be G-1 and the comic G-1.2 (Marvel UK ran in between Marvel US so that's basically the same universe and not some G-1.3.)
