more to the point.. what is what the COST of the Dinobts (G1 originals)?? JEZUS - Swoop is often over $100 and that's not even mint in the box - just the figure. Most of the dino's seem to average about $70 or so.  Man how they have held their value. What is with the popularity of them - or are they just that rare??

 

I'm equally surprised that the constructicons are so CHEAP. They must have made a crap load of em back in the 80's, but that was about the time a lot of ppl were fading out - given the huge amount of TF's that were coming out, going cheap look'n plastic, etc.. Maybe they are all in such good condition, because no one played with them?? LOL

 

Either way - just amazes me.. that Dino G1's are so expensive.. and also that Constructicons are so cheap.

 

 

this revelations is also a lot more painful - as i open the box to my attic original G1's to find.. i have all my Constructicons in mint condition - and lost the 3 Dino's that i use to have.. they escaped somehow.  ARRRGGGG.

Well point A: mint condition Dino's are rare. Holy Grail Rare. If you're gonna hunt for one its gonna be a question of is it real or is it some busted up junk pile. Dinobots were always fragile back in the day. I guarentee that on Ebay you'll see someone offer a 'mint' Snarl only to see that half his dino face is missing from years of use and abuse.

 

Compared to Constructicons you're at risk of maybe getting a high grade knock off. Much like Defensor and Superion.

That's pretty much it. If you want the Constructicons, you can buy a knockoff. But the dinobots are still the only ones out there.

the constructicons seemed to be made in bigger numbers as well as that thier are quite alot of KO's about

Swoop, besides his lack of UK release, is also the most fragile of the five.  His wings and beak are easily broken and damaged.   A close second runs with Sludge, with a Dino-mode neck joint that gets loose easily.  Droopy Sludges are a dime a dozen.

plus only three of the dinos (grimlock, slag and snarl) were released during G2. add to that the fact they were some of the most popular characters with no reissue. do expect to pay the same as a mint optimus prime

Almost.  Swoop was released in Italy.  Ironically, at the time, the only other Dinobot released in Italy was Grimlock.  (Probably becase there were still a lot of the Diaclone versions still on shelves there)

 

Part of the  popularity is that their Dino forms are the antithesis of the Autobot cars, somewhat primative in their appearance.

 

They also have the Anti-hero thing going for them too.

I just missed out the other day on a BIN swoop for $40 (I'm dumbass had to ask question and it was gone like that - I knew better)...  But Then I just won Grimlock and Swoop for $47.

I got them for $500 on ebay mib with inserts and complete for all 5 dinos.  The constructicons I have but I would really kill to get a giftset box.

I got a 99% complete swoop on e-bay for $30 all he was missing was his beak so i found a orginial bottom beak and got a yellow repro which looks so much better on him imo...

 

Every Sludge does suffer from droopy neck syndrome lol

 

Got a complete/near mint looking Slag for $30

Grimlock for 20 just chrome wear on the tail

Snarl needs new tail pieces the tips broke off but i got him for 10 with all his weapons so im happy :P
