alt/bt name alignment and BTA question

Recommended Posts

I got a question regarding some of the latest ALT and BT name alignments...

I realize some have diff names, yet are the same car...

ie, ALT-12 (shockblast) = BT-13 (laser wave) = Mazda Rx

while some utilize the same name...

ie, ALT-09 (Grimlock) = BT-10 (Grimlock) = Ford Mustang

My question is...

what is the BT counterpart to ALT-14 (Decepticharge) - a Honda S2000 ???

Also.. what is the BTA designation for???  Is this a whole new line of Binaltech or a continuation of the BT-xx series.. that has simply ENDED at BT-17.. and will now utilize the BTA-xx series??  Or will this be 2 seperate lines.. and we can expect to see a BT-18 after a period of time??

I see BTA-01 (red alert) and BTA-02 (sunstreak) are built ont he original G1 names and such also - which leads me to believe it's a continuation.  I'm a tad confused - would appreciate the input from those better knowledgeable.

Also - will the ALT continue with a BTA association??  I notice that ALT-18 (sunstreaker) already coordinates with BTA-02...   but if so.. what is the coordinating ALT's for

BTA-01 (red alert)  and BTA-03 (broadcaster/blaster) ???   Or are these simply not out yet??

Leads to one other question - is there a general principle of who leads this matching game?? Does Binaltech generally lead, before Hasboro does?  Or are they completely independant, and are just currently working together??

Thanks for the info.

PS:  one other side question...

what is the difference between BT-01 and the retooled BT07???

most of the repaints don't seem to use different BT #'s.. but Smokescreen does??  What's the news on this issue and what's the difference between the two??

Aside from different decals,  BT 07 has diff. Alloys, different shape lights/air dam and a working missile launcher.

There may be differences in the roof panel and spoiler, can't remember and can't get to mine right now.

The BT and Alt line are seperating somehwat.......

the initial numbering gap  was due to the fact that the 2004 version of Smokescreen was not released as an Alternator.

The BTA line is a 'subset' of the Binaltech line.  So far, Sunstreaker is the only of the three (known) BTAs to be released as an Alt.

There won't be a BT version of Decepticharge as such. Takara aren't happy with the color scheme.  There were rumors of Decepticon S2000 to be called Black Widow

(Japan name for Black Arachnia).  This was to be released last month, but was then

cancelled.

Rumors then abounded that it was to head to the BTA line. Hirofumi Ihikawa who writes bios for the main BTA line aluded to this happening.

There were more rumors however that Black Widow *WAS* to be released as a standard BT.

At the moment,  Black Widow seems completely up in the air. No guarantee it will be released at all.

the lucky draw depecticharge has been released in japan. the actuall wildrider/blackwidow release is going to be in normal binal tech it's just been delayed i think whilst they try and get the name wildrider

Ur!?

.... whilst they try and get the name wildrider

Hirofumi Ichikawa himself said  they'd given up on it and settled on Black Widow.

Bandai own the rights to the name 'Wildrider'. With the Japanese toy industry the way it is, they're not going to relinquish it any time soon. Least of all to Takara with whom relations have been poor in the past.

(for those of you who don't know - they sued Takara over the lions head on Preadakings chest. They lost.)
