Not really Optimus. Just like the Megs style study wasn't really Megs. that probably is a Gundam and it doesn't turn into that truck.

Hopefully this means we'll see the Takara drawings soon

No wonder Transtech was cancelled, Bandai would probably have a huge lawsuit on their ass. :P

But the design will be influenced by the images themselves.  So the final design may look gundamish.  If all they want to do is figure how to turn a truck into a robot and make it look like OP then they can just stare at G1 OP bot mode and G1 OP alt mode.  Basically, the designer's job was to make the alt mode (that truck in the pic) turn in to that bot (that gundam model in the pic) while at the same time modify it so that it have some resemblance to Prime.  So bottom line is I don't think its random that they just that gundam model.  Looking at the concept art of some of the trantech designs though I think the line was geared towards more of an anime mech or Gundam style.
