TF's in the wierdest places....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!  :wave

I just got back from a Carnival Cruise this morning, (which I would highly recommend if you get the chance to go) and one of the ports that we stopped at was in Belize.

One of the excursions that my wife and I did was something called canopy jumping. Basically it is hooking yourself up to a rapelling harness, and sliding accross a 500 foot ravine above the treetops in the Belize jungle. It's a little intense, but still fun.

An interesting side story: While getting fitted for my harness, one of the natives working on the tour looked at my waterproof Kodak camera (it's just a 35 mm camera with a plexiglass waterproof outer shell) and said in broken english / Creole: "Is dat Optimus Prime mon?" .... heh. Eventually that became my nickname during the rest of the tour.

I about died laughing. I had nothing on me indicating that I was into transformers, and it was a totally random coincidence that he even said that. Even my wife saw the humor in what he said.  :thumb

Just goes to show how far in the world the transformers characters are recognized.

Anyone else have anything like that happen to them?

that's pretty funny, but strange.

meh...

I guess you had to be there....  :redface

are you saying that you found tf toys in Belize?

Besides the werid story, Belize is an awesome vacation spot for adventure go-ers. My gf and me were ther for 10 days a year ago. Had a blasted and the whole trip was under a grand for each of us including plane tickets.

I had the complete opposite happen the other day. I was going to my local comic shop (which also do tfs, hman, robotch, etc) and stoped at 7-11. I had a small box full and put them on the counter to pay for tickets. So the cashier, a girl who looks about 17-19 looks at the box and says: what are those? So I tell her they're transformers. She repeats herself. I explain briefly what they are. She asks " can you afford those?" and then asked if I had any PS2 games. I gave up right there, Rolling my eyes on the inside.

Funny thing is the other clerk surfaced from the back room, saw the box and asked if they were TFs.

It was hard to supress a grin.

Kids today................. :roll

I phoned a toy shop the other day to see if they sold Transformers, and they told me to try Maplins (an electrical shop), what a 'tard!
