I would guess Leo Prime, Regulus Prime, Leontos Prime, or Lenis Prime.

i was kinda thinkin leo Primal..... concidering that hes a convoy yes, but a maximal as well...... er.. well, thats what he would be in the US more than likely...

Lio Covoy, and Big Convoy, had they been released in the states during Beast Wars, would both have probably been named Optimus Primal.  Hasbro probably wouldn't have made them seperate characters, rather different versions of Primal (i.e. bat primal, gorilla Primal, Transmetal Primal).

In Beast Wars I was always waiting for them to announce that Primal was Prime, like he got reprogramed for his own protection or was in hiding as a ship captain.  the main reason for this is that 1 the Matrix works on him and doesn't work for everyone.  and 2 he recongizes Unicron.  He recongizes him like he knows him...

 

of course Prime never really met Unicron either, so maybe Primal was really Rodimus in disguise!  I like that idea better.  He was flawed like Roddy, but still a good leader.

Everything in Japan was part of G1 until Car Robots/RiD.

Well they merge with the spark, and Primal gives his right back.  Megs is more stingy, but it's not like they were actully the original leaders.  History repeats itself.  In the new Beast Wars comic they are suposed to explain how G1 Megs and BW Megs are related.
