Decepticons were the military before the war... Also, the Decepticons wanted to expand the Cybertronian empire, so they would have defended Cybertron from outsiders. And you don't protect a planet in a civil war, just you're territory.

I see your point, but I don't understand why Primal would bother to try talking a former decepticon out of world domination.  Plus, the phrase "defend cybertron" doesn't neccessarily mean from outsiders.  The autobots could've used that phrase to mean "keeping Cybertron a place we want to live"

I just looked up Obsidian's bio on TFU, he was an Autobot, so I would assume that Strika is too.

In the Spark War 1,2, or 3 it is said that they are the best generals Cybertron has ever seen.  They retained their original names.  Rattrap craps himself when he finds out their names and states the afore mentioned line.

They were originally Obsidian and Stryka. In bods built by Megatron, sure, but otherwise completely as they were before.

 

Megs didn't need to reprogram them, they were loyal "to Cybertron", and thus loyal to what ever was the ruling order of the day. Which was Megatron.

 

I didn't really think of these two as Autobot, Decepticon, Maximal or Pred. They were soldiers, they left the political and philosophical decisions to the leaders, and they were just there to maintain order.

 

Given there great reputation, I always thought they were built after the Great Wars, and were responsible for maintaining order and keeping down any splinter faction uprisings. Which were bound to happen occassionally in such an environment full of ethnic and historical clashes as Cybetron.

I'm thinking they'd have to predate the autobot/decepticon faction. Well before the decepticon take over. I'm assuming since they were soldgers they would join the decpeticon cause for cybertron's interest. Considering the fact that I recall obsidian compairing primal to prime, (I really need to watch that show again..) he must of atleast knew about him if not from personal experience.

Let's just think about this logically. Megatron took Obsidian and Strika's sparks from his spark containment unit, which means that their sparks were collected by Vehicon drones during Megatron's purge of Cybertron. Therefore they had to be alive at that time.
