What can we do to make this place better?

Recommended Posts

Taking the thread idea from one over at TFW, i'm just curious [and this regards only to the fan art portion] what we can do to make this place cooler, more fun, friendlier, or whatever.

Toss some ideas at me, i'd really like to hear what you guys think. I know the art forums on all the boards have been rather slow and uneventful but I hope to change that at least here.

So yeah! fire away :D

*bump*

make as random art thread, pin it for those of us that don't like to make a full topic for a low profile drawing not all of us are brave

have people that have uber creativity that do a new drawing at least twice a week which add to more frequent updates

Here's an idea... contest like we used to do for the sig maker contests. Do some for sigs, icons, drawing, coloring, org art, org characters... whatever...

I'd agree with that -- stuff to draw people out a bit. I don't normally post in here but I might if there were some sort of sig contest.

then again, I think a lot of people are intimidated by the whole "judging" aspect. There's got to be a way to encourage people to post stuff without them feeling like they're gonna get slammed for not producing something that's pro quality. I'm not saying that that happens here at all; just that I think some people are in fear of that.

I really believe there has to be radical change in ideas and practices which, unfortunately, may be beyond most peoples' scope of vision or power to effect.  As a long time fan artist who's been burned several times over the last two years, more of the same is an increasingly difficult sell.  You absolutely have to be willing to not only entertain a new perspective but to put the time and effort into seeing it succeed or put it into the hands of someone who will.  TFans could turn into _the_ creative outlet of the fandom.  If there's really an interest in doing that, I'd be more than willing to give my two cents.
