Underappreciated figures

Recommended Posts

i agree on that, the R.I.D line doesn't get enought credit they where great figs..

I have a hard time considering the RID line "underappreciated" - everybody loves them.  RID Prime is probably the second most popular of all Primes (after MP/20th), which is surprising considering he's a puzzle-former who tends to fall apart if you barely move him - people have condemed other figures for far less.

This guy gets no respect. I'm still not a fan of the racing paint apps, but I really like his bot mode now that I see him in person. The Extend-o-neck isn't as exaggerated as most of the pics floating around the INTERNET make it seem. Since he's not based on a real character, it really doesn't bother me that his head mold resembles Megs, etc.

Universe Nemesis Prime

He's kibble-licious, but is very posable, has a great weapon and he Dead Matrix. I don't know why more people talk about him as a good figure.

This guy was the figure that convinced me that it was OK to like beastformers. I LOVE all the chromage and he looks like a total douche in 'bot mode. That's a good thing.

G1: Apeface and Snapdragon (Horrorcons)

These guys have to be some of the best G1 molds ever made.  First off, triple changers.  Second, articulated arms and legs with elbows and knees (OMFG!).  3rd, the headmasters double as the animals heads, which in turn gives Snapdragon's dino mode a set of opening and closing jaws!  And lastly: pdvd_000.jpg

Nuff said.

The first BW mold I bought with my own money I believe.  This guy didn't disappoint.  A nice looking beast mode with a very well balanced 'bot mode.  And he had a pretty unique weapon: a crossbow of all things.  This guy actually looks like a prelude to Rampage, or atleast a little brother.

I still think this guy should have found a way into the tv show.  His beast mode is amazing, he looks like a real rival for TM2 Cheetor (the whole cat/dog thing).  Unfortunately, his robot mode is not as impressive, but the hyena alt mode more than makes up for it.

BW: Manterror

For the longest time I turned my nose up at him in the stores, until I got one for a birthday present.  This guys isn't half bad when you've got him in your hands, and I like the way his saw blades fire (far too).

BW: Razorclaw

A testiment to basic formers everywhere.  A nice looking beast mode coupled with an imposing bot mode.  And sometimes he even came with a VHS of Aftermath and Coming of the Fuzors part 1.

BW: Torca

There is no specific reason, apart from being an elephant crossed with a killer whale.  A WTF combo if ever there was one, but for the most part, they managed to pull it off well.  The only problem being the huge paw kibble on his wrists.

BM: Dillo

You know you love the deployers.  Don't deny it.  And this is like the 2nd armadillo former ever (one of my favorite animals I might add).

Snapdragon does rock.

I've got to say

BM Deluxe Primal. Sure he's not show accurate and the poo flinging action gets in the way of his posability, but overall he's a well a balanced figure. I really like that Primal. It was also nice not to have leader be the largest figure available.

I really like his MUNKY mode a lot. It's the most menacing beast mode Primal has ever had IMO. BTW the poo-flinging arm can still be rotated, it just clicks rather than rotating freely.

Armada Demolisher. A truly original mold executed flawlessly...

Armada Wheeljack...Nice sideswipe homage, also just having a slashed autobot symbol is badass...

BM Blast Charge. ok, ugly bot mode...but his hybrid mode is sweet, as is his vehicle mode.

That's true... that's something you don't see that often.

Although I would have liked him better without the small :Dc symbol beneath it. I'm like "okay, I get the point." :tflaugh

I forgot about him. He was like the best thing since bread when we 1st found out about him and when he didn't do good for scalpers he kinda fell off the map.
