Hasbro's Aarron Archer Talks Protos

Sure, but I doubt Takara/Hasbro's total production needs even begin to approach filling a factory's full capacity all of the time to make it worthwhile to own their own.  I suspect their needs more likely come in bursts, especially considering that toy sales probably have seasonal effects.

Hasbro and Takara seem more in the business of developing and holding intellectual property rights and selling, marketing, licensing those rights out when it comes to non-toys areas of the property in question.  This is all supposition.  Looking at their corporate info and financial statements would clear it up.

In Transformers alone, no.  I am sure they run the molds for a period of a few weeks and then move on to something else contracted.  But considering Hasbro's different divisions and all the toys they do oversee production of, it would be possible.  And even if they couldn't at that point, it still isn't viably obsolete because owning their own factories, they could take contracts for others and make the production profit that the factories there are making on them now.

and factories dont ahve to be monstrous sprawling things either ;)

I hate all the outsourcing that goes on in this day and age as it is pure quick capital release and bonus time for the board, once you ahve sold off the family silver you are left with a much weaker company should there be a downturn in the market.

I don't mind if Hasbro/Takara sells off the family silver.  Especially if it would come in the form of a Silver G1 Prime.
