Aaron Archer and Youki-san from Hasbro and Takara sat together to discuss and field questions regarding specifics about the concept to production cycle that goes into all our Transformers Toys.  From stories about how certain figures came to be as well as pictures with the Hasbro and Takara teams getting together for a bit of fun, this was a really informative session and the most attended of the morning. I know. I almost don't even care about the cons any more. There are so many Bots that I coming up with various subgroups based on rank and Personality.

but the cons are sooooo well done! I love Shockwave/blast!!! as well as ravavge...

Aaron Archer and Youki-san :

- Aaron Archer wished to abolish all rumors regarding friction between Takara and Hasbro. He was firm in his assertion that there is no friction that exists between the two. What was obvious through pictures and comments by both was that there does seem to be friction between their designers and the marketing execs. This is understandable.

 

- Your TFans reporter asked specifically about whether they could comment on any future plans for more Masterpiece figures. The response from Aaron Archer was that they were researching what figures/characters would be best to bring to the Masterpiece segment, but had no specific character or designs on the table currently.

 

- It seems that Lucky Draw in the US will not happen. Archer spoke on the difficulty and time consumption taken by such an undertaking.

 

- It would seem that many molds from the G1 era are gone and therefore we will not see them reissued. These include Mirage and Wheeljack. However, Takara is looking to release more reissues. However Astrotrain will be the last Hasbro reissue.

 

 

 

- There are specific plans for Hasbro/Takara to make a new line beyond Cybertron/Galaxy Force and the Movie, however the Movie figures will take priority and come first.

 

 

- More Alternators are in the works and Hasbro is actively thinking about other types such as military vehicles and planes. However, there still aren't any solid designs in the works yet.

 

 

- There will be no WSTF in the US. Aaron addressed this specifically and gave the reason that US safety standards prohibit them from doing so.

Yayyyy  my doom and gloom predictions triumph again!

 

As for Wheeljack and Mirage........  not sure what the inside track is with Wheeljack but with Mirage the guy (can't remember his name) is attempting to sue Takara for 'borrowing' his design.  So destroyed or not, Takara may as well tell us that it is destroyed.
