I have heard the argument that mainlines is for kids and the extras are geared towards collectors. If this is true, why are the Sigma 6 Joes so hardcore? They could have gone with the 3.75 guy or the glorified Ken doll yet they redesigned the line and put out a quality figure. They are not on the level of Alternators or Marvel Legend but they are light years above Cybertron. Transformers are warriors, they should be infinite times more strapped than a grunt instead you may get a single firing non-realistic missile. I bought my daughter a Red Racer fisher price style Gobot and I see absolutely no difference in the age 2+ toy and Cybertron. What happened to the kick arse transformer mainlines?

TF's are aimed at a younger crowd than the people who buy GI Joes, hence why they tend to be kiddified. GI Joe is aimed at the same kids who play with videogames so the toys are extremified to emulate the same design asthetic as videogame characters.

You are comparing an Autobot with a Cobra - the difference right there may be subtle, but toy companies has a tendency to design villains to be more "cool" than the "good guys." Optimus Prime in his last 4 incarnations looked more or less like a Fisher Price maturity figure. (If you think Cybertron Optimus Prime looks "kiddie-ish", you should take a gander on RID Optimus Prime, Armada Optimus Prime, and Energon Optimus Prime. Cybertron Optimus Prime is an improvement, if you can believe it.)

as far as the toys go i like my cyb figs over my sig6 figs but cartoon wise sig6 is alot better than cybertron, but that's mho so blast me all you want you can't hurt my feelings, and RiD prime was better than cyb prime, blast me for that one 2, and the sig6 joes are better than the 3-3/4 joes, oh yeah blast me for that as well actually currently i've got stormshadow riding scourge  :thumb so i like all my toys, need more beats to chill with my sig6 figs,

I prefure Galaxy Force over Sigma 6 becuse GF actualy has a epesode spanning plot.

I saw the Sigma 6 toys at Kay-Bee, where they're 20 bucks--way to damn much if you ask me; more even than the Barbie-sized Joes.  Utterly ridiculous.  They look OK, if a little off on proportions.  And their articulation is still a little lacking considering their size.  I would expect a $20 8" figure would be Marvel Legends or better in articulation level.  And the accessories are atrocious.  I'll stick with the little Joes I grew up with.

Cybertron Prime kicks soooooo much ass it's not even funny.

 

Now if you want to talk about the shows though ask yourself this, "was Sigma 6 designed for Japanese audiences like Cybertron was?".

 

The japanese stuff tends to be a wee bit too whimsical for my tastes, thereby making it seem kiddy-like or just plain outright flatout bib drooling spakin' your mother retarded.

 

I havent seen Sigma 6 yet, but I take it they don't have to yell out "Cyber Key Power" every time they fire their guns.

I saw the show on he WB..........it sucked big time. i hate the key thing they got goin there. why cant they go back to actually drawing tf's in a cartoon? I dont like the cg. it makes them all...how do i put this...awful.
