Alternators Hound (park ranger deco)

Recommended Posts

Here is the gallery for my Alternators Hound.  I've felt (like some of you) that Hound was a bit bland looking.  I wanted to do something different than just a G1 recycle.  A couple of years ago, I worked at a state park in the maintence dept., campground register, and the campground interim minister.  I used the TN state seal on the doors (because that's what the park uses on all of their vehicle doors) and just played with the deco. Hound sports a decal set, an all blue light bar (the ranger vehicles at my park were all blue), and a brush guard kitbash from an old M.A.S.K vehicle (from the Firecracker pickup I believe).  I am very happy with my mod and now Hound doesn't look so bland!  Constructive feedback welcomed!  Enjoy!

You have way to much time on your hands  ;)

Simple change, yet very effective. Well done.

Oh the irony.  Fact is I don't have much time on my hands.  I am in graduate school at seminary (I'm a youth pastor as many of you know), I work part-time at a church in youth ministry as the youth pastor, and I'm married (full-time job in itself . . . you married guys know what I speak of!).  This is the only thing I really do for myself for personal pleasure on a regular basis.  I am an artist (B.A. in studio art, previously self-employed), a musician (as a performer and as an instructor), and a writer (I love to write poetry and short stories [working on TF fanfic, but that's on hold]).

I've just come to learn with the things that I can do (I'm not bragging by any means; just stating the obvious that I like to do a lot of things), that I have to pick and chose.  I've also been doing that with spending money on TFs (mainly getting Alt/BT related things only pretty much).

I want to make box art for all of my customs (see "My TF Art" folder to view samples of my 2-D work [just click my sig]), tech specs (in the form of "composites" as seen in my 'Hot Pursuit' folder), and also write the story of (my) Alts/BTs.  For now, it seems to be that I'm into customs  :tfgrin

i hadno problem with the alt hound, but that does look really nice.

I didn't really have a problem, per se, with Hound as he was made by Hasbro.  It's just that I felt he needed something more.  I think with the existence of the reprolabels set at least to some degree proves this.  However, I didn't want to go that route for a few reasons:  1.) it had been done before quite a bit, 2.) and I wanted to do something a bit different, 3.) I like making label sets myself (it's fun!), and 4.) I really wanted a park ranger TF of some sort given my past association with the state parks.

I do want to make a position clear: in no way am I slamming Reprolabels in any way with this custom, or any other of my works for that matter.  I just prefer making most things myself like this.  Reprolabels makes very high quality work and I highly encourage anyone who wants reproduction labels to go there (Reprolabels' own site).  I just really like designing myself and I like to design a lot of the things for my customs personally, thus giving my customs that added personal touch.

I just really love making customs and even making labels for simple modifications that push an already well-made design (such as Hound, and also my Meister and Wheeljack [check my sig])! :tfgrin
