Transformers Cybertron first impression

Recommended Posts

Got in the first Cyberton DVD (as well as the RM Burning Beast Convoy with DVD.)

Watched the intro and the first five minutes and I can already say a few things.

First of all, I think the intro rocks!  :thumb It has both a G1 as well as a modern feel it ot and I think that is what makes it so great. It would be better if the voice over was better but still. I love it.

The voice overs are actually pretty good. I like the accents, makes for variation. The kids seemed a tad annoying but I will give them a fair chance. They are drawn in what I describe as typical anime style which I am not too fond of.

Sadly the animation is a dissapoinment. It is very well done but it misses the "clear and shiny" look Beast Wars had. Which is a bit of a letdown for me as I really liked the BW animation.

The biggest let down is the faces, they look odd and seem to lack any emotion. I think that will be the most dissapointing part.

The overall animation is just below Beast Wars, Beast Machines and Transformers The Movie but that is not counting the faces.

I will comment more once I have watched these.  :thumb

Is the DVD out already? (US version)

Guess I need to swing over to Target this evening.  :clap

It has been out for I would say a week or so. I pre-ordered it from a US store.

Just watched the first episode and I must say that the kids are tolerable which is a 100 times better than Kicker ever was.

The animation is good. The Transformers look cool and the transformation sequences are awesome. The main things hurting it are the faces (especially the mouths), the animation used for the kids (never did liked the "Japanese" animation very much) and the poor explosion and laser blast effects.

It is 10 years after Beast Wars but that show still stands having the best animation ever. Except maybe Beast Machines but I only saw that on my pc so the quality was lower. Going to get that on DVD for sure.

As for Cyberton, not sure why everyone is complaining about voices. I think Jetfire having an Australian voice is cool (though they could have used Scott McNeil for that) and Richard Newman (Rhinox) as Vector Prime is awesome.

I would say that is the best casting since Nimoy as Galvatron, Welles as Unicron and the Beast Wars series.  :thumb

I am a lot more positive about this series now than I used to be.

Is that the same vioce for Vector Prime as who did Rhinox?

And what about Snarl and Dinobot? Sound's like same actor to me  :tfhuh

Indeed he is.

Not sure about the other two but I am thinking yes as a lot of voice actors do more than just one character.

The epsiodes I saw were quite good except for the overusage of the Cyber Key feature. That aside, they were a LOT better than Energon or Armada.

The kids are a tad annoying at best. I still wish they had not been in the cartoon but at least now they serve a purpose and know their places.

In all I am quite pleased with the show. It ranks above RID but below Beast Wars, Beast Machines and G1.

I wish they'd come up with something a little more original than Atlantis all over again...*groan*

Also on voices is it me or does the rhino guy sound Indian?

OK - i am confused...

I just bought the Cybertron DVD as well....

It has four episodes:

Haven

Hidden

Landmine*

Space*

with the *'s condidered "BONUS"

but i was watching the first couple minutes of Haven until i was completely lost - and thought maybe i was watching it in the wrong order.

so i started watching "Hidden" and am still lost.

Which episode is supposed to be first?

and what makes the other two BONUS?

Haven is the second Cybertron episode. Fallen, which is, for some reason, absent from the DVD, is the first episode.

Doh!

WTF is Hasbro trying to do? -Those retards!

i seriously was trying to give this series a fair shot....

F** them all then

Already knew the first ep was not on the DVD but I was able to understand the story fairly well.

It is Cyberton, not Beast Machines we are talking about.  :tflaugh

It is of course odd that the first ep is not on the DVD but not a huge issue for me. And the show is pretty decent. Better than Energon though that is not saying much, if anything at all.
