Well, he's done. Took about 6 hours total, not too shabby considering nothing here is spraypainted. It's all brush.

 

Paints used: Tamiya semi-gloss black, gold leaf, red and chromatic silver. All are acrylic paints. Total cost would be about $5 for them all.

 

First post will have a picture of him in jet mode, sans tank. (It's unpainted, AND I don't bleepin' know where it is right now!)

 

I'll immediately post again with a second picture, of him in robot mode.

 

And now that I think about it, I may paint his kneecaps. But then again, perhaps not.

The alt mode is my favorite as well. I may paint some more on the underside of the wings, hopefully improving the look of the bot mode.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I'm going to repaint the kneecaps, fists, etc.

 

Off topic, just by a stroke of luck the hobby shop I patronize has shades of green and of purple that are identical to G1 Scorponok. BUT, I need a better screwdriver to dissassemble him, and I'd like a few more repaints under my belt.

 

One more thing - If I were to repost the finalized (I've decided I've gotta do that repainting) E-megs, when should I do it to qualify for next month's voting?

You got to be quick, voting will end on Friday. And then the voting room will be back on Monday. So that doesn’t leave you much time.

Curiosity, and practice. He's by far my most detailed transformer that I've painted. Plus, I've always liked my villians with darker colors - perhaps a byproduct of the westerns where the good guys wore the white hats, and the bad guys the black hats?

 

I will probably pick up another E-Megs to keep as it comes from the factory.
