Frank Welker

Recommended Posts

his resume alone should get him the voice over in TF the movie(2006)

but no one's going to want to see a movie with this unknown actor in it. it's all psychological. you say "Frank Welker" and everyone is all "Who?". but if you say "Ben Stiller", then we got a blockbuster on the 4th of july.

Sad, but true. :tdown

weak

Weak, but logically reasonable.

In addition to the roles given above, basically if you hear an animal in a cartoon, 90% likely it is Frank Welker.

And they mention Megatron, but not Soundwave or his tapes? Jerks :P

Now that I know that he did Dr. Claw....

Watch Return of the King. There's that bad mutha of a Goblin in the end battle (the one with one eye i think). I always thought he sounded like Dr. Claw, so was this FW?

Ben Stiller, who the **** is that? (I really have no idea.)

That dude will be out of cinema's in a little while. That is always the case. A actor/actress is popular for a little while but then a new start comes on the scene and it is exit for the "old" one.

Whereas Frank Welker has been in cartoons for many years.  :thumb

And a movie does not have to have a big stellar cast to make it. The cast in Fantastic Four was not really famous but the movie was great.

Or the game Grand Theft Auto San  Andreas springs to mind. The only major actor was Samuel L. Jackson with the rest of the parts done by unknown actors. But they really put their heart and soul into the game and that made the voice acting so good.

The movie should not be "just another job" for someone and if you hire Cullen and Welker they will make sure that it is not.  :thumb

Actually, the sense I'd always gotten was that if there's any voice actor that is known throughout Hollywood, even by A-list celebs, it'd be Welker.  You don't tend to forget a man who is pitched as being able to sound like... twelve flocks of geese or whatever it is.  And he's done work in probably more major films than any other voice actor and more likely to have met most of hollywood.

Ben Stiller as Megatron.

:guh

For putting that image in my head you deserve punishment. :slap

:wtf I thought that Wild Bill (G.I. Joe) had the same voice as Ironhide (Transformers)

I think even Stiller himself would say Ben Stiller as Megatron would be a crime against all that is good and just (or evil and tyrannical, in this case) in the world.  He might do it if it were some obvious parody but, I'd hazard to guess that he's probably a transformers fan himself and would rather see someone who could bring the proper tone and menace to the voice..  of course, never know..  kinda moot point in an online forum discussion amongst fans.

When I watched "It's Punky Brewster" TV Series, way back in (1985) , and heard the (voice) .... of Glomer, I kept saying to my self, man!! That Glomer character sounds so familiar, where have I heard that voice before? And as I think back, Glomer does bear a resemblance in sound to the latter Slimer from "Slimer! And the Real Ghostbusters" (1988) TV Series.  As a matter of fact, I always kinda knew in the back of my head as a kid growing up, that some of the voices I heard back in the 80s sounded so similar, that it had to be the same person, and only know looking back at Mr. Welker's resume, it only confirmed my suspicions!!  :thumb

I'm sure that's what he thinks about Transformers.
