I always thought that Thundercracker had an affinity too.  Especially since his character bio described him as a TF who joined the Decepticons, and still wasn't sure of their cause.  The fact that he was reformatted by Unicron would have corrupted that affinity.

But, this is all fanboy speculation anyways

yeah, that crossed my mind too.

and fanboy speculation is fun! wait till you hear my ideas about cobra commander having starscreams voice due to possesion as he travelled through time and space!

Okay, so call me ignorant if I'm wrong, but... wasn't there two different types of main Matrix's? The Matrix of Leadership for the Autobots and the Decepticons? And X-BoB58 just pointed out one I've never heard of so it got me wondering was there really a supposed "Dead Matrix?" If all this is proven true why was there such a big whoop over the Decepts trying to get hold of the Good Guys version? Wouldn't their own version

Please, somebody enlighten me on this. Especially about the "Dead Matrix." I've got a fan made bio that would seem odd if I'm including it and it's not "real" ifyaknowwha'imean? Thanks in advance! :thumb

the decepticon matrix was made well int othe BW period. it was made by Shockorat himself. he took the essence of Unicron and forged it into a matrix, basically.

Uhm... thanks for this info. :thumb But it didn't help me any. :( Maybe I wasn't as clear as I thought I meant to be: Wasn't there a Decepticon Matrix during the G1 period and, therefore, throughout the series?

Shokaract may well have created A Matrix for himself that was considered a powerful weapon... but he's a Botcon exclusive that was made in 2000. Sure, it's "Fanwank", as some are wont to say, but as others state: it is still cannon in some areas. As such I'll accept the "Decepticon Matrix of Conquest" but it's this here that I'm partially questioning. Sure, Optimus always had the "real" Matrix of Leadership, but why all of a sudden does Megatron have a Decepticon version? And, yes, I do realize this particular item I just linked to is a knock off product but all fiction must have some sort of fact, right? Shokaract came AFTER this product was made.

And, again: is there such a thing as a "Dead Matrix?" I could have sworn there was a statement made a while ago in another older thread saying Scourge had it in the comics or television series? Or perhaps it was Nemesis Prime?? I don't recall. noidea.gif But, even if it's "Fanwank," I'd like to know. Thanks.

The Dead Matrix was made in Universe by Unicron and Universe I believe takes place after Beast Machines.

bowdown.gifMy thanks to you Don! At least I know that part can now be incorperated into my fanmade character's bio. The rest of my statements about the "Decepticon Matrix of Leadership" were just questions pertaining to this thread in an offhanded manner. Sorry if it was sidetracked for my purposes... :D Back to wondering about Scouge and Thunderwing being "chosen ones." :thumb

The only mention in G1 I'm aware of, of any Decepticon Matrix is when the Quintessons use it as a red herring to manipulate the Decepticons.  There is no other validated mention of the actual existence of such a thing in US G1.

I have this particular knockoff decepticon matrix -- actually 3 now, 1 from a t-shirt vendor I worked for during a con and 2 more which came with the 2 knockoff Megatrons (yeah hehe, I know ^_^).  They're made of a soft plastic/vinyl for the 'handles' and a harder plastic for the inner casing and crystal.  I'm not sure what $125 matrix the seller in that link is referring to, but for $125 that Matrix had better shoot laser light shows while blasting Stan Bush audible from around the planet while it causes planet-sized robots to spontaneously self-destruct.

Regarding how G1-"official" the Decepticon Matrix is, I'll just say this: just because there's a knockoff dinobot toy of Sludge with wings and alligator clip mouth doesn't mean there was ever a real 'Prontosaurus' in G1. =)

Now I'm not saying that I know of anywhere in the show that necessarily precluded a Decepticon Matrix from existing either, or that anything I remember contradicts the existence of one (other than the Quintessons saying there is no Decepticon Matrix.. but Quintessons say lotsa things -- and it's not impossible one could exist outside their knowledge).  And if the G1 cartoon continuity had continued, the writers could have obviously written it in if they wanted.

I kinda chalk it up to the knockoff makers seeing good and evil factions of transformers, good and evil iconic leaders of each, and a talisman belonging only to the good side.  And reusing the same molds with diff colors yields a new product to sell and a marketing reason to buy two of them instead of one. =)  Along a similar vein, the character of Primus provides another balance of duality to that of Unicron, yet Primus comes from the comic continuity and doesn't quite reconcile with the cartoon continuity's explanation that Cybertron was a factory used by the Quintessons (and made by too, or so I remember) or that Unicron would have successfully been able to use Cybertron as a new body if it was already Primus's body.

Back to the main topic, the whole "because Scourge was created/reconstructed by Unicron" argument suffers from a weakness in that Galvatron was also rebuilt by Unicron.  It's a possibility, but there isn't really any info given to test that premise or distinguish it from any other explanation.  Aside from it all being speculation, it's really a matter of whatever is explanation one feels is most consistent and preferred.

Ultra Magnus was the chosen one. It was pure bad luck that that little gobBlote Hot Rod got first touch after Prime dropped the Matrix. UM woz robbed!
