Jetfire

Which Macross Fighter is Jetfire? Finally deciding to get one, thought I don't really feel like paying the absurdly high prices the actual figure calls.

VF-1S With Fastpack Armour

If you want the best one, you can still find the Yamato 1/48 scale veritechs in the VF-1S and buy the Fast Pack Armor separately.  These babies are huge, articulate, and well-built!  Don't buy the Toynami 1/55 ones.  They're the suck!  The only good thing on 'em is the light in the eye...but it's not worth the $80.

Oh, btw, the Yamato veritechs go for around $200 total with the jet and armor.  It's worth every dollar!  I bought three!!

You can find 'em here:

or search for them wherever you feel like buying them.

Oh and don't forget, the GBP Armored veritechs come out soon from Yamato so don't spend all your money just yet!

L8rs,

I've seen a few Jetfires either complete or near-complete, loose, on eBay for BINs around $125 - $140. A few for more with box. The "incomplete" ones are usually lacking an arm clip that lets it basically attach to the undercarriage in the jet mode. Honestly, IMO, that'd be cheaper than shelling out for a Toynami or a Yamato.

Yeah, there's also Galaxy Defenders. From what I've heard, they're actually damn close to the Bandai originals in terms of quality. Not sure if the Super Armor would fit them, as they're often slightly remolded from the actual one.

If I'm gonna drop that much cash on a toy, I'd just as soon get something new. But I know some people would think just the opposite. Jetfire was OMFG sweet back in the day, but the Yamato Valkyries are way cooler IMO.

but that still is a sh*tload of money...

MP Prime is APPROXIMATELY 1/48th scale, has articulation up the wazoo, and has quite a bit of diecast, and he ran eighty bucks new when he was first released. On the other hand, a Yamato Veritech in the 1/48th scale runs from $150 to $200 depending where you buy, is very fragile, and has minimal diecast, and doesn't even include the Fast Packs as a standard accessory.

Not that I don't think Yamatos are cool, just trying to look at this from a pennypincher's perspective

Gotta agree there, as cool as the Yamato veritechs are, they aren't the sturdiest toys out there, they are meant to be displayed not played with, designed as collectors items not toys.  Which is why I stay away from them.  I got me a complete jetfire minus box for 105 with shipping not to long ago on Ebay.  And I'm quite happy with that.  Considering that it would cost me nearly twice that for the newer version with the fastpack armor and all I'd rather have the older original.

Galaxy Defenders are total crap. Had one but sold it because it sucked. They're very cheap though. Got me a brand spanking new Bandai VF-1S Super Valkyrie (includes Super Armor) from eBay. I think it cost me about $60. It's identical to Jetfire save for the white/black/yellow/grey paint scheme and a little sharper jet nose.
