Is Tracks secretly an Omnibot?

Recommended Posts

btw Tracks is a 1980-82 model Corvette, one of my favourite cars, probably due to TFs ;)

I don't think so, because Tracks was a part of the Diaclone line many years before the design of the Omnibots.  The Omnibots were also later model Japanese cars, no?  Interesting idea, but a little farfetched! :tflaugh

The Omnibots came from the Diaclone line too.

Correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure the Stingray was

the last Diaclone released...

As some of you may know, the Omnibots were called Double Changers in Diaclone, .....

What i'm very unsure about is if the Double Changers were released after or before the Stingray mold.

I do think you're on to something here.

The Double Changers had No. 1-3 on the box. Stingray did not come in a Double Changers box. All 4 toys came out in 1984. Last toy to come out was Powered Convoy DX (deluxed boxed version of Powered Convoy) with black "Sideswipe" and red "Mirage" came out in 1985, last toy released in Japan. Diaclone Italy (Trasformer) came out in 1985.

Tracks a secret omnibot? well, his mold came from diaclone too... attack car mode... why not?

this is defintly a interesting theory. He IS the only one of the original season 1-2 bots that did that. the only others though are :the combiners. all of them came with "mega weapon" attachments to their vehicle modes. both auto and deceps. had this feature i think. IK the combaticons had this

He might be a mongrel, half Auto / half Omni!!!

An unwanted child after a bit too much neat energon?

Well, since my G1 Overdrive just came in the mail today, and I put him with the rest of my G1 collection, I think this theory holds water....  Next to Grapple/Inferno/Artfire, Tracks is one of the tallest G1 Autobot cars, on par with Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker/Hoist.  Now Overdrive, altho seeming somewhat thinner, is the same height as Red alert/Sideswipe, & Skids, the next tallest.  Then comes Jazz/Ricochet(Stepper), Silver(blue)streak/Prowl/Smokescreen, Mirage, & Wheeljack.  And lastly Hound and Ironhide/Ratchet are the shortest of all the Autobot Cars.  I've yet to get Downshift & Camshaft, but i'm sure they're just as tall as Overdrive is.  If Tracks was intended to be of the same Diaclone series as the rest of the Omnibots, he would've obviously been the largest, but he did come with an alternate 'attack' mode like the Omnibots, that the rest of the regular Autobot Cars somewhat lacked.
