Beast Machines on DVD?

Recommended Posts

*cough*notnews*cough*

It is on this site, since I never saw a thread about it before now.

I think this topic showed up around February.... for some reason that comes to mind.

Also Beast Wars Returns DVDs have all been released in Japan.

Well I have to say that at least your problem with BM is relatively minor. :tflaugh :thumb

The thing is, we don't know how much earlier Megatron arrived on Cybertron. It could have been years and years earlier. At one point, he says that he labored for "an eternity" to rid himself of his beast mode. So who knows.

But I think the key to understanding Megatron's attitude towards organics is understanding Megatron's attitude towards himself. Why is he so obsessed with ridding himself of the organics in his own body? In the second episode, Primal grabs Megatron's head (when he's in beast mode), pulls him up to a computer screen, and says "take a look at the thing you hate the most" (himself). Later on, Megatron's diagnostic drone gets a verrrry angry, but subdued reaction from Megatron when he suggests that Megatron has failed to purge himself of his beast mode b/c he subconsciously desires to keep it.

Megatron clearly hates himself -- he hates what he has become. He entrusted his victory in the Beast Wars to other people (his Predacon crew) and the organic enhancements of their beast modes. (Let's not forget the fact that Dinobot betrayed Megatron at the end of the Beast Wars and was solely responsible for the Maximals' victory.) And now that he's back on Cybertron, he has wiped out every Transformer on the planet and rules via a brainless, completely obedient drone army, and is actively attempting to get the organics out of his system. Coincidence?

Here's the thing: despite what Megatron says to Primal, he *did* lose the Beast Wars, and he knows it. He's the one who was humiliated by being strapped to the outside of a spaceship, who miraculously survived flying out of transwarp space, and who was given a "second chance" to accomplish his purposes. And this time he was going to make sure that he did not repeat his old mistakes.

JMO and all that

All I can say is I am thankful that it is finally getting released on DVD, it will be a great pleasure to watch this show again and put it next to my BW DVDs when I am not watching it.

At the time it was released I was not a huge fan of the series, but since then, and after watching some of the eps on VCD I remembered why I watched it.

As for everyones problems with the show, its not perfect, but its good.

If you have questions or specific problems with the show I am sure Madhammer will be more then happy to answer them for you, or atleast argue his point.  Keep fighting the good fight LM.

By the way - semi off topic: I absolutely LOVE Jetstorm in that series!  Who is his Voice Actor and Why isnt he in the newer series?!?!

Hunter

Brian Drummond

And he IS in the newer series.

in Armada he played, Blurr

in Energon he played Shockblast

and in Cybertron he has taken over the role of JetFire from Scott Mcniel and is also playing Jolt.

I am really friggin excited about this.  The hating-organics explanation a few posts up was very good!!  Can't wait to have this in my hands!!
