i realized something about the BW cartoon.

the only reason the bwtf's got good characterization is because the writers were more or less forced to focus on them because the limits of CGI prevented BW from taking place on post-G1 Earth with humans running about. i bet that if BW was animated, the writers then could have gone with the original concept of having BW take place on post-G1 Earth and they probably would have relied more on human characters for characterization and driving the plot. it probably wouldn't have been as bad as the japanese stuff but the bwtf's probably would have had less depth than they were eventually given.

I think the biggest plus for BW was it was written and created by North American writers who knew what they were doing and understood the genre vs. the one-shot season then reset for next season that dominate Japan culture.

Blasphemy!!!

-but probably correct... :redface

For the 1,995 time :pfx

Really, BW just got better as it went on. If it stop like an Japan TF series and rushed everything it would of been crap.

that's not my point. my point is that those writers were forced to focus more on tf characterization because the limits of CGI prevented BW from taking place on post-G1 Earth, where the writers probably would have brought in a human sidekick to help with the characterization.

again, it probably wouldn't have been as bad the japanese series but the tf's would probably have had less characterization than they recieved.

Well they still didn't have humans in Beast Wars II and Neo...and ummm...THEY SUCKED!!

As for limits, dude, Mainfraim did Reboot, which was just as characterized and had human like characters...

sorry man, argument killed

and? it seems you're saying that Reboot had good characterization but they still had human like characters.

Well you are atributing the fact that they couldn't make humans in Beastwars, which they did btw, albeit as neanderthals, but still had humans, as the reason why they concentrated on the writing. Mainframe just happens to have some good writers as well as good animators.

I think the good characterization came from good writers, and being limited to only 7 or so members of a faction at a time.
