i go with hot rod, who became rodimus prime, he had everything needed to be a leader people just hated on him for killing prime but i'd a done it, over and over again, if they'd spent more time developing his character i think he'd have been better than prime, that's right i said it B-E-T-T-E-R than op  :clap

What I mean is that Optimus Prime was written as a stereotypical "heroic leader" so of course he was going to come off as a better leader than someone like Rodimus Prime ("reluctant leader") or Grimlock ("warrior leader") or Ultra Magnus ("ineffectual leader").

 

And the thing about the Autobots and Decepticons.... I was just saying that IMO those factions are tied to G1 and shouldn't be used any longer.

I agree. I don't like them slapping the name "Optimus Prime", "Megatron", "Autobots" or any other g1 namesake on these new shows that have no solid continuity with g1. They should, IMO, just keep the original story going.

 

And Redrum I do like Rodimus also.  I think he got a bad rap simply for taking Primes place. But he was no Optimus Prime.

Not exactly, I was thinking if I were a decepticon.  Who do I not want to face out of the 3.

Rodimus was no Optimus because he wasn't written to be another Optimus. And he couldn't have been even if they wanted him to be, because we saw him "grow up" on the show, unlike Optimus Prime. Optimus was surrounded with less experienced 'bots, whereas Rodimus was surrounded with more experienced 'bots. And he had just become the leader of the Autobots, and hadn't already been in charge for millions of years, unlike Optimus. I think it's really unfair to compare a veteran like Optimus to a n00B like Rodimus....

 

Anyway, kids don't want a reluctant leader unless he's got some charisma or intelligence or some other redeeming quality that makes him interesting. Rodimus Prime was given none of that, and his voice actor(s) always had him speak like he was moping around or didn't want to be there. The only consistent personality trait that he demonstrated was a reluctance to lead, as though that needed to be hammered home in ever single episode. It's a pity b/c there was a ton of potential with a character like that, but it was hardly ever explored effectively (save in two episodes: "The Burden Hardest to Bear" and "Dark Awakening").

yup rodimus getting the x by bringing op back is the reason why this is the final series in the arm/ener/cyb series because hotshot is going to get the matrix and they don't want to go through that again
