ALT TRACKS vs BT Blue TRACKS...

Recommended Posts

I only have Alt Tracks.  I had no problem finding him in Wal-Mart.  He is the only alt. I have, the rest being BT.  I got Alt Tracks because I didn't like the BT yellow version.

IMO I think all the Alts suck and look cheap compared to the BTs, with the exception of Alt Tracks.  He is the best Alt in terms of quality.

And I don't know why people are still paying $50 for the plastic Alt when  you can get the metal BT with the sticker for the same price or lower.  Its the same damn thing, just better. :roll

:pfx

I do have both though, b/c I was fortunate enough to find Alt Tracks when I was still collecting Alts, but have since replaced him and all the other Alts that I bought w/ BTs (waaaaayyyy better quality in my opinion).

EDIT: Especially noticeable in the BT Smokescreen v. Alt Smokescreen as has been mentioned numerous times above. I do have both versions of that figure as well, and I was amazed at the difference in the diecast v. plastic. BT Smokes looks great and is well worth getting (esp if he comes w/ the shoulder launcher).

I have had both versions. Alt Tracks is one of the best looking Alts there is, but BT Tracks puts him to shame. There's just no comparison between unpainted plastic and a painted surface.

Although, to be fair - the back half of BT Tracks is unpainted - it's the same exact plastic as the Alt.

Are you sure about that?

I got the Alt Tracks since the BTs are too expencive for my wallet. Now I know that they go for nearly the same on ebay but I got mine at Walicron for $20.00 almost a year ago.

Yeah. BT plastic is a way better quality than the Alt and in the case of the BT smokescreen I have, the plastic is even painted

*gets confused by conflicting information*

I thought that Takara just painted all of the car parts, whether or not they were die-cast. I could have sworn that Tracks' shoulders were glossier on the front side than on the back.

On blue Tracks, the Meisters (red and white) and Jeeps (Hound and Swindle) they didn't paint the plastic parts.  I think because (except for Swindle) were made with the "metallic finish" plastics.  I'm positive that those panels on my BT Tracks are unpainted because you can see the swirly effect the metallic flake gets during the injection process.

It looks so good on Tracks and Hound you can barely tell they're unpainted.  But on the Meisters and Swindle it's obvious (this is why somepeople complain about panels not matching on red Meister).  I'm not sure if BT Laserwave's plastic panels are unpainted (since he's also made with the metallic finish plastics) - I'll have to remember to check on it at home.

It's kind of lazy on Takara's part - the rear panels of yellow Tracks are painted, all they had to do was load the same paint they used on the rest of Tracks into that part of the assembly line.

(I can forgive Swindle, it would make be more difficult to change the assembly line to accomodate painting a portion of a figure that originally wasn't painted.  This is also why I'm leaning towards BT Laserwave also being unpainted - as neither of the Meisters were.)

EDIT:  I checked over the weekend - Takara DID paint BT Laserwave's plastic body panels.
