The ONLY Optimi (I guess that plural for Optimus, it sounds better than optimuses) that ever bother me really were:

 

Powermaster Prime - Fun and big toy, but the years were not exactly kind to his basic design. He looks fat. Fatter than many claim E.Prime to be! And to top it off he's got sentient belly jewelry! The Japanese version (w/ Godbomber) changed my feelings on this in spades, but I have trouble keeping Op in super mode and not staring at his gut.

 

G2 Hero Prime - I hate the color for the cab and to be honest, since they didn't give Megatron the benefit of a more recognizable color scheme I don't feel it was fair to give Optimus a HALF recognizable one.

 

Primal Prime - They got so close and then boned themselves by screwing around with the bloody white paint apps!!! He's only a recolor, I know. However, to be only able to color him HALF right is just absurd! Maybe I'm being overly picky, but why bother you're not going to do it right?! It's better than Optimal Optimus, but only insofar as he's not wearing any of that safety orange...

 

BM Optimus Primal - An awful figure gone even worse after a blind person apparently painted the figure. Bad plastic,half hearted gimmicks and just plain piss poor design made this a painful purchase.

 

McBM Optimus Primal - Besides being uglier than sin, this thing was colored like it had the plague. Then there was tha piss poor transformation. Oops.

 

BM Blast Punch Primal - Soooooooooo close! And yet so far. The blind man's colorblind cousin was given the task of painting a figure and then totally BONED the whole thing. The mold was perfect for getting what needed to be gotten out of this mold and yet... Failure. Thank god they finally put out the supreme figure.

 

TFU Optimus Primal - I know he's just a recolor, but this stretched my patience all too far. He's just not right. This is one of my favorite molds of all time and they couldn't have gone with something realistic OR something like a weird Prime homage. Then there's the eye gougingly yellow weapons. WTF?

 

The sad thing is that despite however much I might dislike or be annoyed by any of those mentioned above, Optimus is life to me. ANYTHING Optimus will remain precious to me despite its faults.

The point i was trying to make though was where did those head designs come from. Rid prime is excellent, but why the red head. Same goes for super armada prime or whatever he is called

you know what though, out of all the primes, BW Primal made me say "alright it's optimus!" while most others, including RID Prime made me say "oh boy thats prime :-("

I'm not too impressed with G2 Gobot Optimus Prime. Like MW Optimus, though, he's a repaint of someone else, so I guess he can be forgiven.

Its called not G1..I'm a huge supporter of not G1..I find not G1 to be a great step in Transformers and an awesome product...everyone should support not G1 and maybe Hasbro will give a Blot about the older fans.

G2 Gobot Prime. That one was pretty pitiful because the guy he was recolored from was still on the shelves... twice over at one point.

 

Second would be Optimus Minor. They should have just called him Drunken Monkey and gotten over with it. I would have seen the point if he had been on the show, but otherwise... crap.

 

I don't like how everyone picks on Machine Wars Prime all the time. He wasn't meant to be Prime and he's a fine G1 toy on his own (he was an EU G1 figure in the first place; Thunderclash was the name). Hasbro (US) just messed up and picked the one whose vehicle mode most resembled Prime.

Not G1 is great, but why call the characters Optimus prime then. Why don't hasbro give all the characters new names then, rather than selling them through the associations you get with calling a character prime, or megatron.

Because they'd want to keep the copyrights on the names.
