Why are TF's on the rise again? All of the above reasons, plus that the 1980's simply where the highlight of toy culture. Think about it, He-man, Transformers, Turtles, Super mario... none of that stuf has really gone away. Sure they where almost forgotten during the nineties, but that decade surely was the decade of toy suckiness.

That, and we're all big kids that never really grew up...

welcome to the board, southpawdragon. I'm lefthanded too! :clap :thumb

Amen brother. It took twenty years for the 80s to make a comeback, and everything that was once considered old is new again.

I agree that they are on the rise and getting back into the mainstream.

I also agree that the 1980's produced the best toys and cartoons ever made and its a shame that the young people of today get some lousy Saturday morning cartoon content!

Is it just me or are the transformers suddenly coming back into mainstream...with a bunch of new toy lines, comics, video games, and even a live action movie, you cannot deny that they are re-entering commercial mainstream...

So why?

I have no idea. At first I thought it was just part of the retro 80's toy craze that took the State's by storm (TMNT, GI Joe, He Man etc.). But if I remember correctly, RID kinda lead the way for all those lines...so I guess you could chalk it up to nation-wide nostalgia? But that dosen't explain their popularity in other countries, unless they are suffering from it too....

Then again it could be that Takara/Hasbro have made some of the coolest toys on the market, keeping both the collector's and kids happy.

Transformers suck. I would never have anything to do with them myself. :tftounge

:wtf

since the great Beast wars the "spark wz struck and the fire wuz started" as the old timers say and in beast machines the popilarity "shrunk down to an ember" and in rid it was reignited it fell down popularity wise some in armada, but not as much as beast machines and rises up again with reissus, alternaters, energon and universe. Hasbro has marked the Transformers as being a "Classic" toy line in their latest earnings report. Sales of Transformers products are up 85%. There is HIGH demand for Transformers toys.

I think we're really hitting the peak of popularity right now. Hopefully Transformers can stay where it is for a good long time.

its all in the execution..... at least from where hasbro is standing
