Pictures....and Dates

Recommended Posts

Here is what I think:

As far as Primus, I don't think he or Soundwave were ever intended to be shown at SDCC.  And if they were, TFormers revelation of those pics probably pissed Hasbro off enough not to show them (Nice job guys! :roll ).

Something fans fail to remember is that NOT EVERYONE IS AS OBSESSIVE ABOUT THIS CRAP AS WE ARE!

Aside from leaked (illegally) testshots from China/Hk or Japanese product listings in some cases, there was NEVER any sort of offcial Hasbro word on: Galvatron, Sunstreaker, Skids, the Armada remolds (coming to the US at least), the new basic lizard (Wreckloose), store exclusives, the minicon assortment (we never even saw a TESTSHOT of these!), much less the BIG PowerglideIN' DISPLAY FOR THE MOVIE!

The fact we got a (potentially) finalized released date for the first live action TF film isn't a "big surprise"?  Or how about the concept art? The enthusiastic comments from STeven Spielberg?

Some of you guys need to step into the sun once in a while!  Speculation and rumors and egos got everyone so riled and got hopes so raised, it was bound to lead to dissappointment.

In my opinion, Hasbro had a damn fine showing at SDCC, we got official word on a LOT of new items, saw a goodly number of new toys, and got a look at what promises to be a big movie in 2007.  Why can't some people get over this damn internet dick contest and just enjoy this hobby for what it is?

Right. I never thought that the unvieling had to be Primus just because we saw pic of his cartoon version. I posted this on the origianal Thread "Dont get'cher hopes up too high. This is Hasbro we're talking about kiddies. They'll mess around and show us the Skids Proto or something else we've seen already."

Amen brother. SDCC was amazing. I had a great time and it was wonderful to be in a room around so many other great toy and comic properties and feel like Transofmers was one of the highlights of the show. Anyone who thought it was a diappointment will never be happy no matter what Hasbro, Takara or anyone shows. I would venture to say these same people have never had sex either. :)

There is a holier than thou attitude out there that is at the root of this. The people who name names again and again do it to hurt and destroy others to make themselves look better. Using their sites or position in the fandom as a weapon to promote hatred and contempt. All this over differing points of view. To me that is the opposite of what a community is all about and about as pathetic as humanity can get. You all know who you are.

Seriously ... if you think that fan site #32 posting a cgi pic of the show model can stop two companies that have already entered in an contract for exclusive unvieling of a product, a toy no less, to the general public via their publication or booth are sadly mistaken.

Ford doesn't thumb it's nose at say, the Detroit Auto Show, just because Motortrend spied the new Mustang months earlier. And that is a much larger financial situation than one single toy.

Also, please, stop being so naive. The people that really have "inside info and contacts" really don't go blabbing about them in public. You can't believe everything you read, regardless of who it is from. That's just the nature of net at this point.

Furthermore... believe it or not, alot of folks out there appreciate what we do. We don't go by this seemingly "old guard" approach. We don't want to hold information from you. We don't want to post hidden tidbits and teases, taunting our knowledge over yours. We are fans just like you. And when we find out something, it is our responsiblity as a news and information site to bring that news to you. We are just as excited about it as you are. And we want to share in that excitement with you.

That is what community is all about.

And that is how it should be, it seems that most people in mod positions on other boards had seen these pics some time ago and was reveling in their secret sources, to censure the news once its out anyway seems bizarre to say the least, still at least more traffic comes this way.

That is a perfect analogy. I find it hard to believe a large corporation would throw a 'hissy fit' over such matters. Heck, even Bill Gates couldn't help spill XBOX 360 info and he's the head honcho. We live in a different age. Information will find a way. Respect other site's policies, but remember to respect this one for the stance it takes.

Count me among the appreciative.  :thumb

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with being privy to insider information. Its the flaunting of it in front of others that is reprehensible. Its too bad people have to make up for their own inadequacies in a public forum. That's the darker side of human nature I guess.

We've got nothing to hide. We put the fans first and the rest second becuase we are them too. That's why we called the site TFans!

I really doubted that Primus stuff was true. I don't think a toy company would excite people about a new character in the cartoon, if there is no product for it to be backed up. If it was actual photos of the toy itself, it would have been a different story.

Actually a thread appeared at the allspark by Cheetimus yesterday called `Official released Primus pictures` but the thread was only there for 2 minutes before it was moved then deleted, sadly I got a "you do not have permission to view this" error message.

I still suspect someone broke the hardcopy before SDCC ;)
