Denyer, if you don't know what I'm referring to, don't be an ass.  There was "supposed" to be a "big surprise" planned for the SDCC, but I don't know that Hasbro ever actually made that claim themselves.  I just wanted to know who the guilty party was behind it.
I know what you're referring to, but it's hardly fair to say Hasbro had "nothing planned" when they had plenty for display.

Whether we'll get to see Primus as a model at BotCon now remains to be seen, but the GF art seems to have been better than any preview ready for SDCC.

Hasbro was slated to reveal a "World Premiere Item" on the Thursday. Instead, there were Cybertron versions of GF toys and some remoulds. Whether you consider Skids (the new one) to be premiere material is a matter of opinion, and this is where it gets hazy—various individuals with private contacts put it as not being something that had already been seen in prototype form, and the Primus art was leaked in spite of an unusual effort to keep it out of magazines and off the net.

It's awsome to see Cybertron will see the releases of the Armada retools in November. Personally I for one couldn't be happier. :clap Though I'm not a huger fan of the minicons the repainted two pack will give me another shot at aquiring the ones I skipped earlier on. November IMO looks to be nothing more than a filler month until the big releases in hopefully December. :thumb

but I'm hearing August now for 'Streaker.  Can anyone clear this up for me?

Since it's 1/2 thru July, i think we'd have seen a boxed sample since.....

My (guess)  would be that he'll be after Prowl.

I think We'll see Streaker either when Skids comes out or next year

Thanks for making my case that you really are a poseur - You have no real contacts. That you do repeat rumors as fact and that you are a trouble maker. You had no jurisdiction to take up that position with the other sites that caused a major  freakout to occur. I dont know why we have not banned you for doing it here. We may still.

As for TNI, there is NO MENTION of what Hasbro would show. You are a true dumbass for A) thinking it was Primus, and B) Going around and stating it as fact. I saw a few posts where you made claims that this was not to be shown as it would ruin the surprise for SDCC.

I think you owe a lot of people an apology for not just this but your long time pompus attitude. Saddly, a lot of people associate your BS with your nationality. I dont. To me, you are a pompus jerkoff.

Now, please GO-AWAY! We dont need your BS anymore.

You want that addressed? Here ya go:

Someone getting fired:

Hooks originally stated at the Allspark that someone got fired because of the Primus image laking. When asked who got fired, his response was "does it really matter?" I'd like to provide a link here, but unfortunately they either deleted the thread or moved it to a staff-only area. I also talked to Hooks in Iacon Hub later, but he didn't tell me about the identity of the person who got fired.

Either way, I wanted to know more (and make sure it was not the person I was afraid about), so I asked another contact about who got fired, and he told me it was "some noob at Hasbro". That source never gave me a reason to doubt anything he told me, so that was confirmation enough for me.

Primus being revealed at SDCC:

That might have actually been a misconception, based on this report:

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=168&itemid=7614

At the point TNI reported this, it was already evident that a pic of Primus was being forwarded between people with so-called "inside contacts" in not-so-secret, so it soon became gospel that Primus would be the "big revelation". And then, Kickback hinted at TFW 2005 that the "mystery announcement" would be either Primus or the Beast Wars 20th Anniversary thing. When the pics of Primus broke, it seemed "obvious" that this was what Hasbro had planned for SDCC.

Not that I believe you would care either way, since you had no problems posting the Soundwave pic even after you already knew that the "leakage" of the Primus pic was absolutely not in Hasbro's interest.

:tflaugh awesome

When in fact, Hasbro had absolutely NOTHING planned for SDCC.  What I'd like to know most is, who was responsible for THAT particular lie?

I blame Nevermore. He posted it as fact on all the major boards. I talked on the phone to a couple of other board  Admins and they named him as the bringer of the BS.

I am looking for links where Nevermore stated this as fact. NEVER ever referencing posts on other sites or the Diamond news. This is where he went waaaay off track. Making it look like he knows all when he just told us he made it all up from bits and pieces of lame info.

Its entiredly possible that Hasbro DID intend to showcase Primus in what would have been a Painted hardcopy and it came out looking like crap / or damaged as Hardcopies are notoriously fragile especially on something of this size and `leaked` the pics themselves just to fuel speculation and possibly apportin blame away from themselves.  Think about it, say the pics didnt surface and they still had nothing to show.

If the toy was going to be there then a couple of animation proofs wouldnt make hasbro change their minds about anything

As for anyone being fired the reasoning would be tenuous and open a whole can of worms regarding `secret sources` within hasbro, in an employment tribunal / unfair dismissal lawsuit.

It's spec either way, and nobody's gonna name their sources at any part of the rather twisty chain...

Can't exactly see Skids warranting big unveiling; what were the pieces from Kaiyodo, Kotobukiya and Playmates?

I think the problem is that we see a lot of pre-production stuff leaking on the internets. So when we looked at the stuff in the photos, there was nothing new to us. But if Hasbro had it's way, then we would have seen tons of new stuff we haven't seen before. And that is likely what was meant by "world preimiere" items. Likely Sunstreaker, since the prototype on Ebay came out of Hasbro, and it was debuted in the US rather than usually products debuting in Japan.

Here is what I think:

As far as Primus, I don't think he or Soundwave were ever intended to be shown at SDCC.  And if they were, TFormers revelation of those pics probably pissed Hasbro off enough not to show them (Nice job guys! :roll ).

Something fans fail to remember is that NOT EVERYONE IS AS OBSESSIVE ABOUT THIS CRAP AS WE ARE!

Aside from leaked (illegally) testshots from China/Hk or Japanese product listings in some cases, there was NEVER any sort of offcial Hasbro word on: Galvatron, Sunstreaker, Skids, the Armada remolds (coming to the US at least), the new basic lizard (Wreckloose), store exclusives, the minicon assortment (we never even saw a TESTSHOT of these!), much less the BIG PowerglideIN' DISPLAY FOR THE MOVIE!

The fact we got a (potentially) finalized released date for the first live action TF film isn't a "big surprise"?  Or how about the concept art? The enthusiastic comments from STeven Spielberg?

Some of you guys need to step into the sun once in a while!  Speculation and rumors and egos got everyone so riled and got hopes so raised, it was bound to lead to dissappointment.

In my opinion, Hasbro had a damn fine showing at SDCC, we got official word on a LOT of new items, saw a goodly number of new toys, and got a look at what promises to be a big movie in 2007.  Why can't some people get over this damn internet dick contest and just enjoy this hobby for what it is?
