I wanted to see what people in this specific forum thought about this.

Should the sellers in here be allow to ask for an extra $1 or two to cover the charges incurred from receiveing money from over seas or from credit cards?

I know you're not "allowed" to charge extra on ebay if you are receiving money through a credit card with paypal, but I was wanting to see what everyone on here thought about this.

I've cleared this topic with an admin... it stays here and it'll be stickied for a while.

I don't think so. it's a minimal charge. FWIW I always try to pay with a debit card whenever I can, however.

I usually pay with animal fur and crates of ale.

I don't see why not.  If they weren't allowed to officially, I think people would just include that in the shipping price and screw people who pay by check or MO.

Well to be honest I try to include that in my price up frount, IE: $25.00 for an alternator, Tax And Paypal fee, or the inconvience of driving to the friggen bank.

Oh yes, I absolutely require the buyer to pay the PayPal fees.

It's not a terrible amount either.

Let's say someone was buying Energon Wing Saber: $19.76 + 6% Tax(PA): $20.95

Shipping is around $5.50 plus $.45 for Delivery Confirmation: $5.95

Total for both: $26.90

PayPal Fees aren't that much at all. It's the total of the item, plus $.30 which is $27.20 plus you take 2.9% of all of that (which is $.79) and add it on for a grand total of: $27.99 (round it up a penny though, what's a penny?) $28.00 covers their toy, shipping, PP fees, and doesn't even include a fee for you. (sucks I know, and you can charge one of course, just going with the basics here.)

It's not that much, it won't kill 'em. Besides, you're losing money anyway. When they slam you for those fees, for some reason it's usually over $1.00 in fees if the grand total goes over a $20.00

Odd eh? Yes...I make 'em pay.

I never worry about it, myself.  IMO, that's the cost of accepting credit card payments.  If you don't feel it's worth the buck or so to take a payment by paypal, then wait for a purchase offer from one of the six people left in the world who are still willing to put "concealed cash" in an envelope and trust you to be honest about recieving it, if you even do... :roll

Really, I get tired of everyone getting all bent out of shape over $0.80 here and $1.23 there.  It's like driving 20 miles out of the way to save 4 cents a gallon on gas.  If you put 20 gallons in your tank, you saved a whopping 80 cents.  And burned a bucks worth of gas to do so.  Same with charging the buyer for paypal fees... sure, you get your dollar back, but I for one won't buy from a seller that charges that fee unless I absolutely can't find the item anywhere else, just on principle alone.  I'm not rolling in cash, but I'm also not broke enough to really miss that dollar for taking a paypal payment, especially if I just sold a TF that I've had for years.  Now, if you're talking about a $1,000 transaction, then it becomes an issue... but come on guys, is a dollar charge to take credit cards really worth crying about?  If you're that hard up for cash, maybe you shouldn't be buying toys... :schin

*EDIT* By the way, before making a "If you're not worried about the dollar, why do you say you don't like paying the fee?" reply, please re-read the post and pay attention to the part about "on principle alone"...  KTHX.  :thumb

Seller should pay for the paypal fees.  for one thing, the fee is for the seller using the paypal service to complete the transaction using other forms of advance payment.  the buyer should in no way pay for such fees.  i mean, the seller can propose other forms of payment to work with the buyer.  As an ebay seller, i have to pay fees for using the ebay service, do you tell the buyer to pay for your ebay fees?????  ofcourse not.
