you mentioned Alverez...is this the same Alverez that wrote the 4 loose guide books for TF's?

I have had no desire to go to the botcons because I fell a con of anykind should have 2 options period: pay at the door, or pre register with a few benifits (ie a simple exclusive or a diner event and early access to dealers). Anything more should be sold individualy and at an affordable rate, $5-20 depending on what's being offered. Too many cons are about the money only. The fans have become nothing more than more money in a companies pockets...how sad. My long future goal is to orginize a mid US Transformer con for the fans. Maybe one day, maybe not, but untill then I'll skip those botcons...buy my toys later down the line.

Yea, OTFCC is all about the money, its that why they went bankrupt?  :roll

Getting a package and paying for items or events  then not going to those events or taking those items proves nothing.  Your logic there is very flawed because all that proves is that you were willing to pay for them even though you didn't want to and that you'll probably do it again.  That's exactly what I don't want to support and what I want to put an end to.

Your goal should be to get people to boycott certain events, not the whole convention.  If no one does the casino night, MC may not bring it back for the next con.  Tell them in emails and at the con if you go.  Posting on a message board only does so much.  I hope you have emailed your concerns to MC directly because that is the best thing to do.  As I said, get people to boycott certain events.  If no one takes advantage of those events, would they bring it back for the next con?  I don't think so.

Boycotting the convention would only result in the club closing up and the same people whining about getting screwed with the membership in the first place.

Emp. Megatron's suggestion is good though, and it is probably the best way you can go about it since some of your complaints are valid. The problem is I don't see why a lot of you guys complain about how the club is intending to make a profit. Is that so bad? People have to earn money to make the toys, keep the fans happy, and of course the most important, feeding their family and actually make a living.

Some of you guys should be reasonable in asking for prices. Asking for cheap prices and stuff should be more sensitive that it's not only you guys that should be benefitting from the membership, but the organizers as well. If you want to help out with problems regarding the club, it is best also to contact the persons you are having problems about.

Yea well when you write a persuassive argument this is the oformat you use.  Of corse things from the first paragraph are repeated because the first paragraph introduces you to them while the three body paragraphs delve into their details.  Then of course they are summed up in the fifth paragraph so I don't know why you brought up the structure of this since it's in proper form.

I think his point, at least the way I read it, was that you could have voiced your opinion fully in about half the space.  This is a message board, not an english class.  We (most of us, usually anyway) make short, to-the-point posts on our thoughts, not write essays.   :tftongue Besides, most of us will just "skim over" long posts like that, and end up missing a new idea that's buried in sixteen different wordings of "all or nothing"...

That having been said, your argument is a good one, and well written.  However, the rebuttals posted above are also well substantiated.  It wouldn't make much sense for Master Collector to follow a path that led the last company to bankrupcy.  I'd rather pay the $300 or whatever it is, and actually get my exclusive toys, than pay the old prices and get screwed out of a promised exclusive because some schmuck in a suit was more worried about the whining from the fans than he was about what the accounting department was telling him. :roll

So, will I go to Botcon?  Possibly, unless the Cybertron toys end up sucking up all my extra cash between now and then.  Will I boycott any meals, tours, or casino nights just to prove a point?  Doubtful... if I've already spent the money, I want what I paid for, wether I wanted to pay for it or not.  (I also Starscream at Taco Bell if they don't give me any sauce packets, even though I throw them away... if that says anything about my viewpoints on getting what you pay for. :tflaugh )  What I will do, if I go, is voice my opinion on the pricing options, for what good it will do.  And if I don't go, then I'll just STFU and save up for next year. :thumb

Just noticed... first I posted this:

And then I proceeded to write my own essay.  :redface

It all comes down to personal choice. They took most of our choices away about what we will or will not pay for if we're going to the con. The one choice they can't take away is whether or not to actually go to the con. I'll be making the choice not to go this year. I'm not really going to boycott it or anything. I've just decided that I don't want to afford some of the events that they want to force us to pay for. I know 3H's business sense was less than mediocre, but atleast their order forms left you with so many different ways to experience the convention. Basically, you could pay for what you wanted.

Now, I know that one excuse for the lack of choice could be that some things wouldn't end up paid for and participation for some events would be low. Well, if that's the case, maybe they should make sure everything that is offered is:

1.) Something Transformers related, 2.) Something cool that everyone would bust their asses to afford, and 3.) Something you can take with you when the convention is over. Atleast last year we got all kinds of stuff like comics, T-shirts, autographed posters, etc. Now, some of that stuff could have been much better, but the point is I got something that I wanted when given the choice.

If MC wises up and gives our choices back next year, I fully intend to be there. If not, OTFCC '04 will remain the last con I attended. It's nothing personal. It's just business. Perhaps they should have asked us fans what events and/or items we were interested in purchasing instead of just going with "what has been proven." As others have said, "we're not the GIJoe fans." We're difficult to please, but all it takes is a little research and a little thought.

WTF IS CASINO NIGHT AND WHO GIVES A BlotE??!!! STFU!!!

I mean really, is this a Transformers convention or a CASINO??!! :P STOOPID!!!

To whom are you referring? Are you complaining about the club/con or those of us who have a problem with the con setup? :tfhuh

Oh, sorry. I'm referring to the con itself. :redface
