Forbidden Planet used to a company called Forbidden Planet distribution and solely sold comics to the UK market!

 

One of the owners thought it would be a good idea to sell up the company and make a load of cash.

 

In doing so, Forbidden Planet Distribution became Diamond Comics Distribution UK. The owners were happy.

 

Not true. Somewhere along the way they argued and decided that they did not want to work with each other. They had agreed though to set up another set of shops. As they both held rights to the name/logo etc, and both want to do it, they did. But they did not want to work together.

 

So....

 

Two Forbidden Planet chains were created.

 

One was called Forbidden Planet Limited. Which has stores in London, Dartford, Cambridge, Croydon, Bristol, Southampton, Liverpool, Coventry, Birmingham & Newcastle.

 

The other one 'Forbidden Planet International' has all the other ones.

 

The agreement is that they will not set up a rival shop in the same town.

 

Of course, FPI cheats by having afiliated stores.

 

 

Now, I dont know exactly what stock the FPI boys sell, as I have my own shop to run and basically dont have the time (although I should)!

 

However, FP Ltd mainly do the Japanese stuff as they have a deal with Takara to get them over.

 

If anyone remembers the first time that FP Ltd got in binaltech's, they where about £65 which included mark-up, import and VAT.

 

However, with the deal, prices have come down to £46.99!

 

I know its a bit more expensive than getting it on-line or getting it from ebay, but unfortuantely this way there is a middle man in the mix who needs his money.

 

Its convenience really that makes people pay these prices!

 

As I am in FP Southampton 5 days a week( sometimes 6 :tfsad ), I will let you boys (and girls) know when there is new stock in FP Ltd, but I have no idea about FPI.

jst thought id add my own findings in the UK in the recent months,

 

Energon - Prime and Megatron, singly and double set, Scorponok, European/American and Japanese colours, Omega Supreme, Unicron, Ironhide, Jetfire, Treadbolt, Landmine, Bulkhead, Shockblast, TidalWave, Ultra Magnus Inferno, Prowl, Hot Shot, Rodimus,Tow-Line, Starscream, Demolisher, Snowcat, the four omnicons and the recolors of 2 of them, the four terrorcon basics, not having much luck with the combiners as i have only managed to get the a pair of limbs for Superion nd Construction Maximus, no torso's or recolours yet. errr think thats pretty much it for energon so far,

Universe - Construction and Defensor sets, home bargains is so Powerglideing useful, the two battle sets, the Prime and Overlaod recolor set.

 

Galaxy Force - Prime, Landbullet, Starscream, Excillion, and the first mini con team, god bless FP !!

anyway thats my recent purchases, is there much else out at the moment ? have only got the first three alternators but their so damn expensive !

lol me again, just readong some of the older posts on here and was wondering what sort of size peoples collections are ? i currently have around the 500 mark give or take.

.....i've never counted the total amout but its quite low compare to guys like turbine

I got alt swindle from sheffield forbidden planet only 3 days ago. They also had alt silverstreak and alt windcharger. :tfhuh

(plans on getting on train from retford to get swindle now :D )

medowhall had barricade, alpha quintesson, the 2 limbs for superion, sledge, wingsaber, barricade, sharkticon and the kicker highwire pack in.

cool sharkys in the uk at last its just him, slugslinger the rest of constuction maximus and bruticus that i want form energon

the only place i saw him was the last picture show in medowhall, along with sixshot and alpha quint though so it is probably imported. shame they don't import alts really
