Beast Wars!!!!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have pictures of their repainted/altered to be show accurate beast wars? I was also wondering what paint works best for them (type and brand)

hmmm, because details are critical in beast wars. i'd say going with an airbrush but if you dont wanna spend the 100 dollars id say hand painting with enamel or acrylic paint. I use Testors, but there are probably tons of others.

Does airbrushing make the effect look better or something? like a fade maybe?  So if i wanted something to be a solid colour, it wouldn't matter if i use the airbrush or hand paint right? What do u think of Tamiya paint?  do u have to use a primer then paint or u can just paint it?

ok, first ill answer your questions. In my opinion, i think hand brushing and airbrushing have the same results. but airbrushing is alot faster, but more expensive. I havent dealt with tamaiya paint but if its enamel then it'll be good. I dont personally use primer so i wouldnt know. But if your using krylon fusion paint, you get no chips in the paint. but it takes seven days to dry, so i use enamel, its not fully chip resistant but its holds up well enough. and if there so happens to be a chip, then just touch it up. I cant go into detail, because my "sensei" says that i cannot tell anyone of my work, you should learn for yourself....sorry. but i hope wut i've sed so far helps you out. just use trial and error. pratice on a spare toy or sumthing. hope what you make turns out.

interesting.... what about sculpting? any recommendations/tips?

i have never dealt with sculpting. Personally i think if you sculpt a head it usually ends up looking horrible, but body parts etc. Im not sure, i guess you can buy molding stuff at a local hobby shop.

well for the best results, i recomend using the robot masters figures for optimus and megatron. they are in scale with most of the season one cast and are increadably show accurate btw, i don't own an air brush. dry brushing and adding layers works best for me. i did post pics of my optimus primal, but reciently i went back and redid the fur in beast mode. i orriginaly painted it with tamyia german grey, but then painted it with tamiya light grey  and painted the silver back silver. then i dry brushed it with german grey. the repaint itself needs to be cleaned up, but i haven't had time to get the necessary paint i need to do that. he'll have a galary once he's complete.

megatron

Yeah, all I did actually with my RM Beast Convoy, was painted the fur with a Neutral gray, then I went over it with a flat black, and wiped away the access, and it leaves a very interesting effect to it, Ill try to get pics up soon. Then I painted his mouth peises gloss white, with a silver base with clear blue over his mouth itself., then painted his feel and lower back thighs kinda of an aluminum color, but its a metalizer paint for airbrushing for planes and cars. it can be buffed out and then it looks like it was waxed. I thought it looked about right for his colors.
