Thats alot just for shipping

Recommended Posts

well there are a few transformers that have bigger boxes, but still the price is about 40-60 dollars too high. but thats how sum people scam, they screw you on the shipping, i saw a alternators have a shipping for 16 dollars, and they lived in california.

Hmm, well the total price is not to bad.

I'd have to see what the reserve price on the auction is. Basically, I think the guy expects the winning bid to be lower than what it would normally be and the $100 for shipping is just a way of avoiding some of the ebay fee.

Of course, he could just be a frickin idiot trying to scam someone into bidding on it without checking to see what the shipping is first.

hmm, does seem high, but maybe he has to walk uphill, both ways, to get to the post office and it's 20 miles away... or something...

yea, too high....

A lot of people use high shipping costs to circumvent ebay fees as well since ebay charges the fees based on the final auction dollar value (not including shipping)

Not sure if this helps profits any in the long run as most auctions with ridiculously high shipping fees sell for a lot less.

I hope eBay one day makes the shipping calculator mandatory. That way it would be easier for them to track actual shipping costs and hopefully be able to add the amount the seller overcharges to the final value fee.

Shipping calculator only works for the USA.

Does it make a difference? I know that sellers can tack on fixed S&H fees or a a % for S&H to the final auction price but does ebay counteract that to bump up the final value fee?

I mean in the end...higher shipping costs given upfront means that the auction will just sell for a lower final value. You're probably paying either less than you would if shipping wasn't hiked up or about the same.

No they don't; that's the problem. If I sell you something for $1 but charge you $100 for shipping, the final value fee that eBay assesses is still based on the $1 amount. It's dishonest and it pisses me off.
