I had forgotten all about Jazz. And how fast could that Lancia Stratos go?

Mirage still wins anyway tho :P

Here's some stats on the Stratos:

SPECIFICATIONS:

YEARS MADE-  = 1973-1980

PRODUCTION NUMBER  = 492

POWER OUTPUT  = 190 bhp @ 7000 RPM

MAX SPEED  = 143 MPH

0-60 MPH  = 6.0 seconds

ENGINE  = 2418cc mid-mounted transverse V-6

Pretty weak.

Hey, the actual car that Mirage is based on probably didn't go 220 back in the day.  I would be interested in the stats.  I would be willing to bet that the Porche could hang with it.  That F1 car isn't that much faster.

Here's a car I bet you didn't think about either.........,.......Smokescreen.

Stats:

SPECIFICATIONS:

YEARS MADE-  = 1979

PRODUCTION NUMBER  = 1

POWER OUTPUT  = 2753 bhp @ 8000 RPM

HORSE POWER  = 600 HP

0-60 MPH  = 3.8 seconds

ENGINE  = SOHC ( Single Over-Head Cam ) Inline Turbo-Charged

You have to admit, that's pretty darn fast.  Those Z cars have always been good about manueverability.  Cool, huh?

You don't have to sell me on Z cars. I always loved them (I used to have a 260 Z back in the day.... *sigh*).

but yeah I'll try to see if I can find out any specific info about Mirage.

EDIT: no luck yet but the sponsor was "Gitanes" and the team was "Ligier". The last time Gitanes sponsored Ligier prior to the advent of the Diaclone toys was in 1979.

P.S. The Shelby Cobra could go from 0 to 100 and back to 0 in ten seconds. That's just balls-out power.

Can y6ou believe it though?  0-60 in 3.8 seconds!!  That is break-neck fast!

Was the Autobot run striclty on a race track?!!? I can't remember.

Or was it off road as well? If so the F1 is in some trouble.

For some reason I seem to remember in the back of my mind that they did have Mirage and Jazz being about tied for the first to finish.  Haze of 20 years though maybe?

No the ending was actually uber-lame -- they kicked up so much dust at the end that no one could tell who won. I guess that way they wouldn't have little Johnny going "waah my favorite guy didn't win" or whatever.

The race was on a racetrack... and then after that Sunstreaker tried to jump all the Autobots but didn't make it and Trailbreaker had to help him out.

I remembered liking Trans-Europe Express a lot more, but I haven't seen that one since the 80's.

actually it was windcharger who helped streaker out by using his magnetic abilites...

now that you mention the stunt show, i wonder why the writers had wheeljack stay at base? he was supposadly the best stunt driver out of the autobots, so i doubt he'd stay at base rather than show off his skills... anyway i reckon he would of made the jump that sunstreaker failed (despite his arrogance)

come to think of it, would sunstreaker actually take part in an event to raise money for charity? i thought he hated humans?

Wasn't it for a charity or some Blot that they were racing for? I bet Wheelie would pwn them all in a race :tflaugh

If the Ligier that mirage was based upon was from the age of the turbo it would blow away anything (literally), by this I mean they were running 1.5 litre engines with 1500BHP (yes 1500) they were know as `grenade` tune as when they went bang they went bang.  Todays f1 cars couldnt even touch it but I think that was early 80s as opposed to late 70s.

MH is quite right, regardless of power the dynamics of the Lamborgini Countach made much more than 180mph nigh on impossible especially with a rear delta wing attached.

was this race run over a variety of surfaces?  In that case Wheeljack would win as is a rally car, it all depends on the surfaces, track goes to mirage ;)
