the autobot run

Recommended Posts

I say again, though, that comparing their earth vehicular counterparts doesn't speak a whole lot to which Autobot would actually be faster.

The Autobot BumbleBee would own all of those human-built racecars easily. In fact his specs mention he's one of the fastest cars in the original lineup.

It would be better to compare noted speed ratings in the tech details released over the years.

It was just a regular racetrack. The funny thing is that there's Prime (WITH trailer) and Ironhide and all those other slow-ass Autobots driving along on the track... you had to think that those guys were kinda bummed to be in a friggin' race. :tflaugh

As I mentioned above, the last time pre-Diaclone that Gitanes sponsored Ligier was in 1979, so I'm guessing that was the car Takara ripped off for Mirage (since Diaclone Mirage was produced in 1980).

:wtf

Have to disagree with you there. The tech specs were necessarily arbitrary (what does a "5" mean for speed, anyway?) and it's not like the earth alt modes were just for show.

You know, I always thought the Lambor's had a much higher top speed than the 170-180 range.

Mirage likely, Dragstrip would outspeed even him though I think.

Why, 'cuz he's EVIL? :tflaugh My understanding is that formula 1 racers have a set limit on their top speed.

I based it on models, Dragstrip is a much later model then Mirage. Also, unlike Mirage, he would not obey the F1 rules on limitations.

As for the question on what a blower does, it about doubles engine power.

As for the TF specs, they go for robot mode, not for vehicle mode. Also they were relative to size class. Hence Fortress Maximus and Optimus Prime both have strength 10, yet Max is hundreds of times stronger.

Yep.

I don't know who would win from the Season 1 and 2 bots, but Blurr would smoke him :)

Okay, well, it's easier to try and figure this out if we first list the land based Season 1 & 2 Autobots/Decepticons.  Then I also took the liberty of cross-referencing the original Marvel Universe biographies and the Dreamwave MTMTE biographies to get exact numbers where available, and I got the following:

Alpha Trion - no known alt mode, can't run very fast

Astrotrain - 400 mph train mode

Beachcomber - no top speed listed, but can navigate any terrain, if shorcuts were legal he could stand a chance

Blaster - immobile boombox

Blitzwing - 28mph tank mode, he could probably run faster

Bluestreak - can maintain speed of 150mph for 12+ hours, excellent endurance racer

Bonecrusher - 30mph bulldozer mode

Brawl - 45mph tankmode

Brawn - no top speed listed, but likely slow, same advantage as Beachcomber

Breakdown - 220 mph

Bumblebee - no top speed listed, but is not known for speed.  Fuel efficiency=endurance/advantage in a long race

Camshaft - no top speed listed, but is efficient, see Bumblebee

Cliffjumper - no top speed listed, but is listed among fastest Ark autobots

Dead End - 220 mph

Downshift - no top speed listed

Drag Strip - 250 mph

First Aid - 140 mph marvel/110 mph dreamwave, both for 500 miles

Frenzy - immobile cassette

Gears - no top speed listed

Grapple - no top speed listed, frequent breakdowns.

Grimlock - plodding dinosaur, not very fast

Groove - 140mph for 800 miles

Hoist - no top speed listed, but known slow with poor efficiency

Hook - no top speed listed

Hot Spot - 90mph for 600 miles

Hound - no top speed listed

Huffer - no top speed listed

Inferno - no top speed listed

Ironhide - no top speed listed

Jazz - no original top speed listed, Mach 1 after Pretender upgrade

Long Haul - no top speed listed, but can cary 90 tons for 1200 miles without refueling, efficiency advantage

Megatron - immobile gun

Mirage - no top speed listed, but is among fastest Ark Autobots

Mixmaster - no top speed listed

Motormaster - 140 mph

Omega Supreme - no top speed listed for tank mode, but known slow

Onslaught - no top speed listed

Optimus Prime - no top speed listed for himself or Roller

Overdrive - no top speed listed

Perceptor - immobile microscope/supposedly immobile light cannon

Prowl - no top speed listed

Ratchet - no top speed listed

Ravage - immobile cassette

Red alert - no top speed listed

Reflector - immobile camera

Roadbuster - 65mph for 600 miles

Rumble - immobile cassette

Runabout - 185mph for 550miles

Runamok - 180mph for 600 miles

Scavenger - no top speed listed

Scrapper - no top ground speed listed, but must be slower than 60mph flight speed

Seaspray - 120 knots for 4000 miles

Sideswipe - no top speed listed

Slag - plodding dinosaur, not very fast

Sludge - plodding dinosaur, not very fast

Smokescreen - no top speed listed

Snarl - plodding dinosaur, not very fast

Soundwave - immobile cassette player

Streetwise - 180mph for 400 miles

Sunstreaker - no top speed listed

Swindle - no top speed listed

Topspin - 300mph on flat surface

Tracks - 280mph ground

Trailbreaker - 80mph, highly inefficient

Twin Twist - 200mph

Warpath - 30 mph

Wheeljack - no top ground speed listed

Wildrider - 250 mph

Windcharger - no top speed listed, but near instantaneous 0-60mph jumps

And after reviewing the list, Astrotrain tops the list in ground speed, so in a straight-shot race, he would give anyone a run for their money.  Jazz did not have a speed listed except for his pretender upgrade, but since that is post Season 1 & 2, it can likely be ruled out, otherwise he would be dominate.  Otherwise, for a lengthy endurance race, Bluestreak or Bumblebee would likely be the contenders due to their overall efficiency.  It really is difficult to try and judge because we don't have all the information for what type of race this would be, and what it would mostly involve, be it outright speed, maneuverability, endurance, etc.  But at least there's a list for everyone to review :)

wouldnt Astrotrain require Tracks to achieve max speed?

Looks like Topspin would be the front runner if it were just a ground race
