I finally found an Alt. Wheeljack yesterday. I opened him up this morning, transformed him and happily put him on my desk. After about an hour I noticed one of his headlights had more of a shine to it than the other. Upon inspection, I noticed that it was missing the clear plastic cover. I looked all over and can't find it. Needless to say I am alittle upset. The store doesn't have anymore so I can't exchange it. I know it is a small defect, but it is just one of those thing that stick out like a sore thumb. Now that I know about it, that is all I see when I look at him. Hopefully I can find another one to exchange it with. Has anyone else had similiar problems with their Alts.?

The only problem I've had with Wheeljack is that his hood doesn't like to close all the way. But the headlights are fine on mine.

 

I did buy an Alt Tracks that was missing a piece on the engine gun, though.

But I haven't seen another one in stores anyways, or I would have picked one up for you.

My Grimlock's hood won't close all the way and I thought that was just a design flaw until I got Wheeljack.  WJ's hood stays shut and flush.

I am wondering something more general -

seems like everyone who races out to get the "First" alt on the shelves usually ends up with a defective one - ie-Meisters horrible arms

 

but if you wait till like the second shippment of said figures then they seem to be better made.

 

Is there something inherent in the first figures off an assembly line or the first ones in Distribution that have a lower level of quality control?

I have all the Alts. to date and all of them have been in the first wave. This is my first problem with any of my transformers.

Dont seem to have a problem with mine and I sure am first off the blocks :P

My Grimlock has the same problem.  As for WJ I think it's gonna be awhile before I manage to find him anywhere. After 2 weeks of endless searching I'm taking this week off. (yeah if you believe that I gotta bridge to sell you!)

 

Anyway, if and when I find him I'll make sure to give it a look looking over to make sure everything looks good...hell even if it doesn't I'll probably still buy it!  :tftongue

I also just got alt dead end, and his hood doesnt close properly on one side. Fortunately, I can exchange him tomorow.  :thumb

 

Also I have recently discovered that the silver part on the connectiong pins from my alt sideswipe's steering mechanism are degrading. How is that even possible?  :wtf
